Hey yall
I have been wearing my hair in a bun for 29 years, only taking it down to wa**** once a month. (yes, once a month, i'm nasty) Well after watching videos on you tube and being sick of my bald spots showing, I finally flat ironed it.
Now that it is flat I have no idea what the hell to do with it. I cut about 5 inches off so I won't be sitting on it. I don't know what to put on it to make it stop flying in the air. I have very whimpy thin hair and need some suggestions on keeping it down without weighing it down.
Call me a attention ***** all you want, but after all that time of straightening this **** you best believe i'm showing it. I don't know how long I can deal with loose hair I am already wanting my bun back.

Hey Lee:
Thank-you for the post about hair. Believe it or not I did not know their were "how to take care of hair" on the Internet. I guess I was ignorant of that because I never looked for it. Anyway, when you started posting on hair, I went looking on youtube and other places. I found products and how to take care of my type and texture of hair; I made some choices and tried it...in 2 days my hair and scalp feel new, MORE BEAUTIFUL, just super. The reason I go on like this is because I have "wash and wear hair," and I keep it cut short, I've always just washed my hair with whatever was available, rinsed it and dry with the towel and go.
The compliments that I have gotten are fantastic...so I guess people NEVER know who they will touch and help in a positive way when they post something with good intentions.

OH MY GOODNESS!!! I didn't know all this hair was hiding in that bun! Girlie if you go through the whole procedure of that web blog you posted yesterday, it'll take you at least 5 hours based on all the stuff she did.
Maybe just make someone else deal with it. Treat yourself to a weekly or bi-weekly salon trip and just have them wash, condition, and style it for you. That way at night you'll only need to tie it up.

I didn't use the products that girl on you tube used but I am going to go get them today. It didn't take long to do at all. I have a Maxi Glide flat iron (the one with the steam) and it is very fast. I put it on setting 2, I can't believe it goes all the way up to 10, they trying to burn people hair out.
I don't think i'll be keeping it for long, I miss my bun and I just feel so uncomfortable. I am going to try to give it a week and see if I can get use to it.

Hi Lee... My Sister and I just went to the Hair Salon yesterday. We go to a place call Glass Hair Design in Venice CA. Well, to make a long story short ... My sisters hair. about 1/2 the length of yours. Very thin and fine but, she always wore it straight or up in a pony tail. Well, the Hair Designer told her the length of her hair was what was weighing it down. He advised her to cut it about shoulders Length into a "style" (very important you get a style) and her hair would look fuller but, not heavy. And with a style you can appreciate your hair more.
My sister was so fed up with her long straight stringy hair she did it. He cut a FABULOUS STYLE on her and she has already woke up this morning calling to say how much she really lovers her hair.
So, with all this said... I say consult a really good Hair Styles ... one that may be a little above the price you are use to .. not Super Cuts .. and not a Ma and Pa Shop .. somewhere in the $$$ dollar range that to higher end hair. I have found even though they can be pricey it is well worth in the the beginning. Then once you establish something you really like and can work with .. Then go only like once a month.

About 12 years ago I got all my hair cut to about 3 inches long and my mama cried. I suppose if I ever went to a hair salon I would go to a expensive one but that is something I don't do, I usually wa**** and bam, it's back in the bun. I have it cut to do locs of love to make wigs for cancer people but that it about it.
I don't think this will last long, but thanks for the advice, i'm just to much of a bun girl to commit to a hair style where I have to have my hair down all the time.
