Got a new CD out - then we forgive you!!

First off, I said the same thing about  the Chris B. / Rhianna thing: if she were my daugher, yeah, I'd be kicking Brown's lil @$$, too,

Now, to answer your questions.

1.  I think Chris and Robert are equally wrong; in both cases they are abusing women. Period.    As for Michael, it has never been proven that he actually did anything.  If he DID then, he is just as guilty (granted, R. Kelly has never been convicted either, but what fool makes a video doing something criminal like that???? He SHOULD have been convicted of, if nothing else, abject stupidity.)

2. Chris may bounce back from it, but in my opinion, he needs serious counseling.  I always talk to my 14 year old daughter about dealing with men / boys, anyway.  This came along at the right time.

3. The message is that "none of that other chiot matters.  Just gimme the music..." I think that is some b/s.

I hear you on that one, D!  I said the same thing re: If that were my daughter...The only dance steps that guy would be doing is the "pee-pee" dance whenever his colostomy bag would fill up, cause he'd need serious medical attention after I'd get done with him..."

But I digress...

R. Kelly was never convicted BUT (and this is what gets me) Black folks were loving him like he was Marvin Gaye making a return from the great beyond when he put out "Step in the name of love..."  and the videotaped RAPE was out maybe two weeks before that.

What never fails to amaze me, A, is the capacity of the black community to forgive.  Even when the chiot isnt' warranted.  I can't tell you how many times I heard some chick saying " Hey, R didn't do it. He couldn't have done it.  He doesn't seem like the type"

My answer?

"How the hell do you know if he isn't the type?  Because he wrote 'I Believe I Can Fly'???  Unless you are one of his intimates, all you know about him is what is put out there in term of his personality...he can write good music and STILL be a complete and utter dyck..."

I haven't bought even a BOOTLEG of his stuff since the initial allegations.

That's my point exactly, D.  If they "eff up", mess up, or "fess up" the black community is right there to bail them out and show them undying love and support.

But...

Let that had been a local celebrity that we actually grew up with and we (as a community) will always point back to his darkest days in his past that we were around for and say,
"Seee...  That right there should have told us something...."

1.  Is Chris more wrong than R. Kelly? Than Michael Jackson? I know my answers may not be popular, but I am going to tell you how I feel about the situation.  NO, I do not think that Chris is as bad as R. Kelly and Michael Jackson.  How and the hell can you put a rapist and a child molester in the same sentence as someone that may have lost his temper and hurt a woman.  Now, we do not know all the facts and we have him tried and convicted.  Yes, the pictures are out, but noone knows what went on but CB, Rhianna and the good Lord.  Now before we get our underwear in a bunch, we should get ALL the facts before we convict someone.  I thought it was innocent until proven guilty.  (and for the record, I do not condone a man abusing a woman nor vice versa)

2.  Do we think he can bounce back from this? Yes, people love to see comebacks.  Its just a matter of time.

3.  What message are we in affect sending to everyone else when we give unconditional love to our so-called artist who abuse our women/children?
The other day, my son (15 yo) told me to turn the radio station because they were playing a CB song.  I said, why?  He said because he beat up Rhianna.  I said, son, you do not know that is true.  We must get all the facts.  Also, If I am not mistaken R.Kelly and Micheal J did not get convicted of any crime.  So they have been tried in a court of law and NO conviction.  Who are we to convict someone?  We need to leave all that up to the all mighty God.  He will handle all of that.

"...Now, we do not know all the facts and we have him tried and convicted..."

So, tell me.  When exactly was Michael Jackson convicted?   Whether Chris was convicted or not, according to his OWN father, he is sorry he hit the girl and will seek counseling.   Whether she provoked him or not there are ways to difuse a situation without laying hands in anger.  Considering (again, according to reports) that he witnessed the same situation growing up, one has a choice as to whether to continue that cycle or not.

True, but I don't want this dude holding her down to keep her from hitting him all while his veins are popping like the guy in the movie, Scanners and his eyes are bulging, turning white and green like that guy in The Incredible Hulk TV show; all while he's trying to "diffuse the situation" and possibly deciding whether or not to backhand her in the face.

Grant it that both R. Kelly and Michael Jackson were not convicted but c'mon...  R. Kelly made the tape of his crime and Michael...   Well let me just say that Chris Rock was right when he said in his act, "Another kid?  Another fuggin kid?"

1.  Is Chris more wrong than R. Kelly? Than Michael Jackson? I think they are ALL wrong.....I just hate R Kelley never went to court on his deal.

2.  Do we think he can bounce back from this? I think he will...I think there is more to the story.....You know so women can be foul....some have been known to lie...

3.  What message are we in affect sending to everyone else when we give unconditional love to our so-called artist who abuse our women/children? I think they all make too much money and think they are all untouchable...
