Weight training program update - in case you are curious.....
Not sure if anyone else is doing the weightlifting program out of the Lift like a Man book like I am - BUT - just thought I would share a 'hiccup' of sorts I am experiencing.
I am not eating enough. The workouts are challenging still (I'm a lil bored with A and B right about now) and I have been focused on protein first, no 'dirty' carbs (ie refined sugars and such) Well - this is week 4 and I hit the WALL on Tues night in the gym - just NO energy and my body felt like a TRUCK hit it......
Went back and read some parts of the book - charted my food - man - I am sooooo UNDER calories!!! Wierd, huh? I've been tracking about 500 short on my workout days, 200 or so short on non days - that all adds up to WEARING MY BODY SMOOTH OUT.
So - I am not doing three workouts this week - just two - and I am adding mid morning and mid afternoon snacks to my plan - and it's HARD - I was not hungry!!!! It's the CRAZIEST thing to HAVE to eat and not WANT to eat....... I did okay yesterday, and I'm on track for today, so I should be cool - I feel rested today at least.
anyway - posting this in CASE anyone else runs into this - know that you are doing what you SHOULD - you just may need to retool or rework your plan a bit.

Hmmm.. Now you know better! After being a slug for about a year I'm finally gonna go ahead and get the book, or join a gym or something this week. I've gotta see some friends in the fall that haven't seen me since before surgery and I don't think I look all that different. Gotta make some changes.
aint' nothing to it but to DO it!!!!
Once you're into it - it's second nature. Tonight is going to be hard for me cause it's my regular gym night - it's going to be strange to be home!
and I bet you look PLENTY different to all of them - heck - I STILL see the old me in my head sometimes!!!

I think one of the hardest things about weight lifting is the eating. When I first started lifting weight a long time ago that was my biggest issue, and when I do the X I have to eat mega calories. You have to hit your calorie sweet spot, once you get it worked out your energy will level out.
I rememvber days when I could barely open my eyes when I laid down I was so exhausted and it was because I was working out like crazy and eating like 1,600 calories when I should have been eating way over 2,000.
You also have to remember that lifting weights take more energy than just aerobics so you need to feed your body.

I know what you mean about the body feeling like a 18 wheeler ran over it after lifting free weights. I feel like I need a nap and no energy left.I have gone through that a few times and you think I would know better after lifting for almost 4 years now. High protein meals and snacks does make a differences in performance.
