My recovery was great....I was off about 4 weeks if I recall correctly.

But thats cause my job and docs were flexible in that way.

I really only needed about a week.   The pain was the worst the days immediately following surgery......in a week's time I was great and had started walking and feeling ready for the world.

Wishing good luck to your daughter on her  decision.

Thankfully she has you to guide her thru the process.

I was given 3 weeks off and I took it. I needed a vacation. I didn't take any pain meds after I left the hospital. I didn't have the gas or pain in my shoulder like others experienced. Surgery was on a Friday and I was walking slowly through Walmart on Tuesday. The last two weeks off I just enjoyed myself.

Hello,

I had my surgery done on a Friday stayed overnight in the hospital and was back at work on Monday. On Sunday the day after I was released my sister and I was out house hunting. Granted I was holding my stomach and walking slow. A little pain not too much. The pain was only bad when I would try to stand up straight or if I was trying to sit up. Other than that I was fine........

it was about 3 days for me...pain was tolerable...i rarely took any meds;mostly just at night to help me sleep..the only pain i really suffered was shoulder pain..due to where the port is attached (on the muscle) it can cause shoulder pain..that went on for about two weeks...but even that was tolerable...good luck helping yr daughter choose the best surgery for her...keep us posted.

I have a very low tolerance for pain.  I only took a week off of work.  I just moved slowly and eventually got back intot he swing of things.  I had the stomach gurgling and the shoulder pain as well but in retrospect it wasn't really that bad.
