Hello All,

I wanted to know how you all survived during the pre-op diet for your RNY sugery. I am having surgery on Monday 2/23/09. Did any of you have any problems with the Isopure? Did it give you the runs (sorry I know TMI)?

I seem to feel sort of sick to my stomach. I am a diabetic and since I was told to stop taking my meds and hormone replacements, I think my body is trying to adjust to the changes. I can't wait until Sunday so I can sip on some broth!!

First I'd like to say congrats on your surgery date!

I really can't reply about ur issue because for 1, My liquid diet wasn't isopure bcause I couldn't afford it.  I had to drink sugar free drinks like nesquik, koolaid, and chicken broth, but I could eat pickles, celery, sf jello, and sugar free popsicles.  hopefully someone who has used the isopure will respond and enlighten you.  If you can't take it anymore then ask ur Dr. if u can start doing what I did.  Trust me u will loose weight either way, if u not eating..........u will loose weight.

It's hard at first, but it'll get easier as u go,  Trust me!

I only had 2 days of liquids.  I didn't do isopure.  If it gives you the runs I would say you are intolerant to it.  Can you try something else like other protein shakes.  I also had tomato soup and lots of juice.

I'm drinking the drinks not shakes, but yes I have three that I can choose from. I am going to ask them tomorrow about me having clear liquids earlier than sunday. I wonder why some sugerons want you to do it for 1 to 2 weeks and others not at all. I know it's purpose it to shrink the liver and get rid of the fat.

Thanks Nikkemo

My program required 6month of classes where we lost 10% of our body weight.  my surgeon just wanted 2 days of liquids to clean out the system instead of doing that laxative thing.  Plus the Monday before my surgery, I was too excited, scared and anxious to eat.

I believe it may be a combination of both.  You're so used to taking your meds and NOT used to drinking the Isopure so I can imagine the havoc you're going through.

I do hope you feel better though, you're just a few days away!   Congratulations!  I'll save a seat on the loser's bench for ya.

Hey Sharon,

Please give Doc Cahill a call. Let them know how you're feeling and what they can suggest.
