These are a bird they spend most of their life creeping up and down the trunks of trees searching for insects that hide in the bark of those trees. Their long curved beak is able to get into the crevices that many birds can't get into.
no you're not off. the main reason this bird is so well camoflauged is to hid from things that would want to eat it. (Primarily other birds like hawks and owls.)
