OT: Wednesday Afternoon Bird Quiz
In keeping with today's theme of being in disguise and keeping under cover and concealed......this next bird is also a master of camouflage.
When leading bird hikes...if it wasn't for the fact that I know what this bird sounds like...(it has a "very very high pitched song...that many people can't even hear)...most of the time this bird would go by undetected. They will sit motionless on the trunk of a tree...and will become almost "invisible".
Any guesses on the name of this bird?
BIRD PIMP'EN AIN'T EASY!!!

Hey Mr. Doug:
I find this interesting, are you a "bird watcher?" If so, how did you get into it, and how do I go about getting into it; what books do I need and what equipment for a beginner? I'm trying to get some more hobbies, as someone suggested, to fill that food void. Thanks

I actually am a certified "bird geek"...LOL.
I recently resigned from the Board of Directors of Indiana's oldest and largest Audubon Society. (Just didn't have the time any longer.)
Getting started???
It really doesn't take much. A good Field Guide to help with bird identification, and a good pair of binoculars are things I recommend.
Field Guide? You can get a good one for less than 20 bucks.
Binoculars? Get the most expensive you can afford. (Your first pair can be less than 100 dollars...but "glass" is so important with birdwatching you'll want to spend at least 100 dollars on a pair. The ones I have now probably retail for about 500-600 dollars...but I got mine on eBay for about 220 dollars.
(BIRD WATCHING IS GREAT FOR FILLING THE FOOD VOID. IT DID FOR ME.)
