New Post-op Tip of The Day

To tell or not to tell ? That is a personal decision. Everyone has a right to privacy when it comes to your private health. Some people choose to tell people about their surgery and some people choose not to tell. One thing for sure will happen, you will be losing weight and some people will comment on your weightloss and some will even ask how did you do it.

We're all familiar with how it turned out for Star Jones but she was in the public eye on a daily basis and she still had a right to her private health issues but the public disagreed. YOU decide what is best for you. Some people tell everyone they meet and even speak at support group meetings about their surgery choice, while others may not even tell their family members.

I was not going to tell a soul but I did tell a few people and now everyone knows and I wish that I would have kept my mouth closed to some people. An example of this is that my sister saw someone I went to high school with a couple of weeks ago, she goes and tell him that he wouldn't recognize me now because I had wls and I'm smaller than she is !!!!!! There was no reason for her to tell my medical business to him like that but she likes to run her mouth and I suspect she is a little jealous because I've never been smaller than her before ever.

I don't know if this helps you or not but I do know that some people will speculate and maybe think that you are sick but YOU decide who knows what about your medical decisions.

You are right, it is a personal decision.  I chose to tell any and everyone who would listen.  Do I regret it?  Maybe a time or two I have, but for the most part I am happy with my decision to tell.

Thank you for another great tip for new post-ops! I struggled with this for a long time, and have decided to not broadcast it from the rooftops and I am very happy with my decision to do so. Can't wait to see your tip for tomorrow!

and my close sister - let every think what they want,  to me my WLS is my concern
no one elses... i am almost a year out and happy w my decision.  JMHO  (just my humble opinion )

So true, only my husband, daughters and 3 friends know.  People are so judgemental and uninformed so I don't say a word to anyone. When anyone asks, I jst say my eating and excercise habits are different.  My changes are graual enough for it not to be alarming at this point, so if it changes I will have to cross that bridge then ... Sorry that your confidence was broken, that would have bothered me too.

BTW .... your new pic is very pretty.
