do folks w/ 20 year post op exist?
Hey BAF,
I see and hear great results related to wls from folks that are up to 8 years post op, but it is unsettling to not be able to read or hear from folks that have 15-20 years of wls experiences. I am starting to wonder, do they even exist? I know that wls procedures have changed over the years and procedures like lap RNY is about 10 yrs old, but can anyone out there w/ longevity share some info? I have a two year old to live for and I need to know that a wls procedure wont cap my lifespan.

Great question; although I personally hope to hell I'm not on here chatting with anyone 20 years out from surgery!!! Heyll, 10 years out is pushing it!!!
If you are interested in reading/researching about people 20 years out from surgery, perhaps you can google to see if any articles/stories come up. But, I would suspect that these people are living their lives as normal as posssible, thus, no need to communicate how/where they are as it relates to a surgery they had so long ago.
JMHO...

I have a first cousin that had bypas surgery over 20 years ago, she gained some weight back but she is looking good and still healthy. Also one of my older sisters had a stomach stapling surgery not really RNY over 20 years ago and lost weight and has gained most of it back...she still can't eat much but she never follow rules and she admits that she has a love for sweets and never exercise.
The lap band has been around for years about 20 years in Europe and other countries but not the USA it is new to the USA since 2001...and RNY is pretty new too, the procedures was done a bit different 20 years go.....
