OMG this is shocking
This is the first time Im responding to this, I have recieved it on email about 23 times and it is disgusting. The time has come that we no longer allow ourselves to be the joke. The time came a long time ago. We must not shrink back from our inheritance of being a rich culture of people, with limitless intelligence, beauty, love, and abilities, because when we do we silently support and encourage ignorance such as this.

I believe that many Blacks "Just want to fit in" and are tired of the struggle for equality. It is only when racism affects and effects them personally that they want everybody to get up in arms. But as long as they get a benefit, the hell with the group. So this type of thing does not suprise me...I have experienced racism by white people and that does not shock me; what shocks me is that Blacks who see it just let it go. One day it will come back to "haunt" them, because if the Group is lumped to any type of "inferiority" and someone claims to be a part of the Group, out of necessity the individual also will be harmed by the connection. Some of us just don't get it, yet! But that's NOT a given.
Frankly, when I first came to OH, I wondered why the need for a separate Board for Blacks (because I did not see one specifically for Latinos, Asians, Whites...). Now, I know why; the racism/prejudice that I have seen on OH via it's white members is appauling...the things they post, the conclusions they make about Blacks are outrageous. Maybe because it is the Internet they feel ok and freer or maybe it is the affirmations they have gotten from SOME Blacks that what they post about Blacks is OK. So here, like the shop owner who made the "Drunken Negro faces," who is more to blame for perpetuating those images...the racist who made them or the Black patrons who just laughed it off and continue to support the shop by purchasing other confections; what type of signal does that give the shop owner when Blacks come in and say "no I don't want the Drunken Negro, just give me a dozen of the French Crullers to go, see you tomorrow, Buddy!
