Hi,
I am pre-op too - going through the insurance thing - nother story already whinned about that one- anyhow, after I had my first surgical consult I was acting like food was going out of style.[ I guess it is in a way when I have this RNY]   I have always been a volume eater and making the rounds of my favorite buffet places was on the list.  I'll never have xyz again so I have to eat it all now - After about 2 weeks of that I got scared.  I know me.  I tend like many of us to be "on or off".  If I'm "on" I'm behaving and don't deviate if I'm off  its "I'll deal with it tomorrow, or sunday or my birthday, or kwanzza or the new year"... and this was around the holidays. What got me on a pre-op diet plan was my fear that I was going to have to go see the surgeon again and I didn't want him to give me shiot about how I gained and how he can't do the surgery until I lose x amount.   I looked at what I did in the past that worked for more than 5 mins and one low carb meal a day with slim-fast for the other 2 - optifast was better but I can't afford that right now  works well enough for me.  - I can lose weight; I need to learn how to keep it off.
anyhow,  I managed to lose about 35 pounds in the last about 2.5 months and I feel better.

Blessings on the journey!

Rhonda

When I was approved for my surgery, it was scheduled for 3 weeks later.  I went to Myrtle Beach and ate my heart out ot Captain George's Sefood Buffet 2 nights in a row    and ythen started the 2 week liquid diet when I got back home.  I did really good but the day before surgery I ate a Boston Creme Donut.

Gurl be careful.  I gained about 18lbs during my 6 mos. nutritional observation.  The scale jumped up about 7lbs. in a month, I wanted to cry.  Clothes were getting too small, even my coat was tight *sigh* I was miserable.

Hi There:
I have to admit, I am afraid to over eat. Just don't want to go through withdrawls after surgery, I kinda want to be in an eating and exercise routine.

I have been doing South Beach and it makes me feel sooo good that I am afraid that I will start craving stuff that I have no craving for AFTER my surgery. I ate a nice juicy steak last week and it was good, but I had it with butternut squash chutany and spinach. My surgeon said that eventually this is the way I should eat to continue and maintain my wt. loss. Just having no back pain, no cravings for refined carbs, coming up with recipes, really liking low carb foods, it's the way I have always felt I've wanted to eat. I just can't see myself going back into that sweet craving, fried chicken/fish/french fries/white rice/white pasta/white flour/sugar...lifestyle.

My Sister is a vegetarian and has been for over 30 years. Her eating style is so natural, some things she just does not choose to eat, her commitment to that Lifestyle is beautiful and she has reaped the health,  beauty, emotional and professional benefits from it. I pray that my commitment to my New Lifestyle will be as great because I have taken my Body through Hell and it is still holding through this corrective time.

I cooked a WHOLE Thanksgiving meal and ate it for a week before surgery. I didn't have any pre-op diet so I ate to my hearts content. I gained at least 10 lbs leading up to my surgery. It was kinda foolish because I can eat any of those things now in moderation or with a lil alteration. I was just extra sad about Thanksgiving lol
