The more you make the more you spend. If I make 30k a year but my expenses are 22K a year then I have 8K a year to do whatever with. Save, spend whatever. But at the same time the family next door could make 200K a year and have expenses of 210K a year and could be struggling. I think its all about living within your means which we as Americans have a hard time doing. Its about the expectations you set for yourself that determines how much is enough. As for myself as long as I have enough money to pay bills and travel occasionally I am happy.

I remember when I was 20 yrs old, I got a job as an HRIS assistant making 20k. When I got home from the interview you couldn't tell me ****I was the happiest mofo in the world. However I was living in a family owned house just me and my son-no mortgage and just the little household bills. Life was so simple.

The executive admins at my job make over 75k base, that don't include their bonuses.

I don't have a bar, the more I make the more my lifestyle change. I can't say what's enough because I don't know what's more than enough.

I have no bar as  I am able to live comfortably now.  Thankfully my arse has learned some sense over the years.  I don't create bills unless I ABSOLUTELY have to.

People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas. ~Author Unknown

Yo with houses in the hood costing 300K you gotta be coming with something substantial in the DC Metro area!

30K- fuggedaboutit
50K- average
70K- Good
100K- Very Comfortable

Mo money mo problems, very true. I pulled in the most I ever made last year and this is the first year I will ever owe Uncle Sam on my taxes. So it's a gift and a curse.

It's weird but I make alright, almost to good on your standards, but am a broke beyotch.  More broke than I ever was making $10 an hour but I didn't have a child then.  Children suck the life out of you literally.  I don't know how people do it with 4 or 5.

I would be happy with about $80K a year.
