Off Topic : I have no clue how to help my boss with her medical claims...

So one of my bosses hands me a stack of medical bills for her family members and asks if I can track & submit these things for her. She's saying things like meeting vs not meeting her deductible....etc. WTF??? I thought that you go to the doctor, pull out your ID card and pay your nice little co-pay. Why is she handing me $800/$1000 bills? And what forms is she talking about that I need to download?

Can someone who is well versed with this stuff please please please send me a PM or break this down for me so that I know what to do?

Hey Court

Go to her insurance carrier's website
There should be a link titled SUBMIT YOUR CLAIM or something to that nature  and then follow the instructions. You should be able to put in a couple claims at once Good luck!

ETA: You might have to setup a account with her ID number, so you might want to ask her for all her info!

Sounds like she has a POS or PPO insurance plan which carries a deductible.  (Meaning, the insurance company may pay anywhere from 70-90% according to her plan and she is responsible for the remainder).

As stated, you can go to the insurance carrier's website, set up a profile for her to pay her portion of the bills.

Your boss paid for some services, more than likely with an out of network provider,  Then then have given her an itemized receipt that she can submit to insurance.  Now she may or may not get a reimbursement, but she can have credit towards her deductible.  She probably has a participating & a non participating deductible and will have her expenses appllied to one of those.  If you do not locate a downloadle for online, you can call customer service and ask them to fax, mail or walk you through their website, you can also ask them to walk you through filling out the form and give you details on best way to submit claims.  Be careful to fill them out correctly or the could get rejected and have to be resubmitted, SEND A COPY, KEEP ORIGINALS.  I her company requires orginals, keep a very clear copy of everything.  Hope this helps!

Hey Court...now you know I have to get 'legal' on you with this one...are you this person's "personal" assistant? Is this part of your responsibilities?  I am trying to understand why your boss wants you to track/submit her medical bills to her insurance company.

This sounds rather strange...
