We have a yorkie about 4 years old weighs 4 pounds, very tiny.
With small dogs you have to be very careful of their necks you can collapse their tracia very easily by walking them on a neck leash instead of a body harness leash.
You have to buy them treat and toys specially for small dogs if not they will tear up their gums on things that are to hard for them.
You have to keep their eye area clean or it will stain, and you may want to keep them in a puppy cut, it's cuter and less work. They require a lot of brushing.
Our dog loves to be held and treated like a baby. She is so tiny it's easy to carry her anywhere you go without anyone know she is in your bag.
Make sure you feed them small dog specific food.
Toy dogs bellies are about the size of a small tangerine so they don't eat much, make sure you always have fresh water for them, in the summer clean the bowl a couple times a week cause it can slime up and make them sick.
For softer treats, you should store them in the refrigerator cause they can go bad.
I love dogs, especially toy dogs. When my Bear Bear died I didn't think we would get another toy but then we found this tiny little yorkie that is full of love and happiness.
I LOVE AND MISS YOU BEAR BEAR.
Yeah, I am going to get the harness one this weekend. I don't like the neck one.......I have pupparoni treats with his greeddy self and too many toys LOL
He came with some of his favorite toys and I had purchased him like 4 Nylabones and some fleece dogs (for soft chew).......
He was raised on Diamond something dog food and she gave me 3 months worth....so I have to order some...it is hard and I like it.....
Rascal is a bigger Malt. Malts can range from 4-7 pounds....He is so greedy and weight 6.5 lbs....we see our vet this week and will get a more detailed eating plan.
He had tear stains when I purchased him....I am getting some eye envy.....I can't do a puppy cut on him because his fur is soooo thin.....so thin it rarely mats......but I brush him every day and redo his knot every day. I am going to have his hair cut to like 2 inches (scissor cut).
Thanks for the tips! ~smooches~
