As I am a newbie post op myself I can only answer 2 of your questions
1. I'm not concerned with loosing too much, I'm only concerned with not loosing enough!.
3. Pre op I was a guzzler, it drives me absolutely crazy that I can't now. However at only 2 weeks out and 20lbs. down, for me the pro's far out weigh the con's.

1. Has anyone ever been concerned about or lost TOO much weight?
No, not concerned about losing too much, I was concerned about not losing enough. I have lost my fair share; approx 220 pounds in almost 2 years.
2. Is SEX normal after either surgery?
Sex is as normal as you make it. Depends on your definition of normal sex.
3. DEHYDRATION...IE:since excersize is a priority and u get really thirsty after your workouts, does the size or the pouch accomodate ur thirst?? I mean are u able to quench ur thirst even tho' ur limited as to how much u can consume?
Dehydration can become a problem. You just have to sip, sip sip all day. In the beginning you may not be able to get alot of fluid in at a time but after a while your wil be able to consume more. I had a problem because I dont drink sodas, dont like flavored water, juice is too sweet for me so I only drink Tea and if there is no teas around i usually go without but I am learning how to incorporate other beverages into my day.
4. FOR THE LADIES...is the "menses" normal, shorter, longer, or does it change at all??
The change in "menses" (for me) alone would have been worth the surgery. Pre-wls I flowed very, very heavy (had to wear depends) straight 7 days (was a time when I would flow weeks (WEEKS) at a time, now I can wear a normal pad and only go 5 days and not that heavily and no more cramps. I have had bad cramps since the age of 12 (missing school / hospital visits). I would have begged to have the surgery then if I knew it would help with my cycle and I wasnt an overweight kid. Well I was probably over weight given my height and solid body structure but not noticably overweight/fat.
5. If u had to do it again would u?
Girl, I would do it 10x over if I had to , and I was self pay.

Hi There!
I didn't have a RNY but I just (well two weeks ago!) had the gastric banding surgery (LapBand -- but the Realize band is the same thing). So I can take a stab at your questions from the perspective of a newbie and a non RNY patient:
1. Has anyone ever been concerned about or lost TOO much weight?
I have had that concern. My best friend got a lapband about four years ago and she lost some major weight (had that head too big for the body syndrome) so even with a band its possible to loose LOTS of weight. However one of the reasons I like the band is that it is adjustable. If your doctor thinks you are loosing too much weight too fast he can take out fluid in your band to allow you to eat more and vice versa.
2. Is SEX normal after either surgery?
I have no clue! But I'd imagine as you drop pounds it would be better :P
3. DEHYDRATION...IE:since excersize is a priority and u get really thirsty after your workouts, does the size or the pouch accomodate ur thirst?? I mean are u able to quench ur thirst even tho' ur limited as to how much u can consume?
They say that most bandsters have to start by sip sip sipping. I find that I can drink normally. However I would assume that after fills you would have to sip for a while, but eventually you can intake fluid normally and in the proper amounts.
4. FOR THE LADIES...is the "menses" normal, shorter, longer, or does it change at all??
I can let you know in a week :P
5. If u had to do it again would u?
Even though I'm brand new I would. I wish I would have done it sooner -- but so far its been a good ride :)
Good luck with your journey!!!

I had the lap band so its a little different but heres my thoughts ! 1)unless you have a complication you shouln't lose to much weight and with any wls if you don't follow the rule you may gain back weight. 2) Can't help you there I'm not with any one right now :( 3)if you get your 64 oz. in you should be ok I have a few friends that had the rny and post op and those first few month can be hard on getting the fluids in but as time goes on it gets easier.4) perimen going in and peri men coming out I'm no help but I'm HOT... :) 5) Ionly which I had this choice 20 years ago and now I wouldn't go back if you paid me I love my wls and I'm very happy I'm one year out down 122 pounds and I know this was the best thing I could have done for me. so welcome to the board and good luck if you have time check out my profile it tell my story it may help

Hello CeCe,
1. Has anyone ever been concerned about or lost TOO much weight? For me personally, I have never had this concern.
2. Is SEX normal after either surgery?
IMO it enhances your sex life because you have more stamina, etc
3. DEHYDRATION...IE:since excersize is a priority and u get really thirsty after your workouts, does the size or the pouch accomodate ur thirst?? I mean are u able to quench ur thirst even tho' ur limited as to how much u can consume? I have the Lap-Band and I am able to drinky usually a bottle of water after my workout.
4. FOR THE LADIES...is the "menses" normal, shorter, longer, or does it change at all?? Mine has almost remained the same with the exception of a few more cramps.
5. If u had to do it again would u? In a freakin' heartbeat!
