Hi BAF!!! I never really introduced myself, however I have been on these message boards for minute now researching for the biggest decision in my LIFE!!  My name is Cece  and I live in Boston. A lil about my reason for being here...Diabetes runs in the family so does heart disease and I want to prevent it from cumin my way. Ive done allll my tests... well except the psych eval but other than that I need to lose 23lbs(still at 277lbs) and then I will be good to go. I am really leaning towards the RNY but I am looking at all options. I had a few ??'s that anyone can answer if they would like.

1. Has anyone ever been concerned about or lost TOO much weight?
2. Is SEX normal after either surgery?
3. DEHYDRATION...IE:since excersize is a priority and u get really thirsty after your workouts, does the size or the pouch accomodate ur thirst?? I mean are u able to quench ur thirst even tho' ur limited as to how much u can consume?
4. FOR THE LADIES...is the "menses" normal, shorter, longer, or does it change at all??
5. If u had to do it again would u?

Thats about it and I know I'm gonna think of sum more ??'s but in the meantime if anyone cares to share ANYTHING AT ALL I would soooo be greatful. Have A Good One Guys Thanks!

Hello!!

1. Yes I am sure we all were concern about losing too much weight. Lose whatever you can to replace whatever weight gain you may get.

2. Don't understand the "normal sex" question. Was it better maybe?

3. Dehydration problems yes some have that problem, just stay hydrated.

4. I have always been pretty lucky in the cycle dept, never cramped and cycle normally last 3-4 days.

5. YEP will do it over again and correct my mistakes at the beginning so it want be such a struggle to maintain down the line.

Ur great thanks for the input! I think I am also afraid I wont get all my protein in that I will need. Oh and as for the sex ?? I meant is there discomfort from the surgery that may hinder the way u have intercourse as far as abdominal pains and such as far as...well...the more well endowed man gettin it in.. Is that TMI?? I apologize but I didnt know how else to put it!! LOL!!

2. I think its better

3 Ihave never encountered a time I didn't quench my thirst
4. Initially my menses were worse (longer, heavier, and crampswere unbearable) but about month 6 I was fine
5. Yes MAAM in a heartbeat

Hey there.  Good for you for making such an important decision for your health.  I chose a different surgery option but I'll give a stab at your questions.

1) Still working hard with this band, I don't think too much weight loss is as much of a problem for us.

2) I'm in a bit of a drought myself but I'm guessing this will only bee so much better without the almost 60 lbs I was lugging around before.

3)Initially I had to sip water, but with time I have been able to drink almost like normal.

4) Stopped taking BCP so I might not have a good answer for this, but things are lighter but the cramps are worse.

5) Only thing I would have done was choose to have surgery sooner.

1. In terms of losing too much weight, ur proably bound to gain SOME back in time.

2. normal is in the eye of the beholder.  I have found more stamina.

3. You should be drinking at least 64 ozs of water  a day once ur able to accomodate it...so, dehydration shouldnt' be a problem.

4. Yeah, I would do it all over again. .

2. Is SEX normal after either surgery?
better!!!!

I have always loved a cold glass of water but now i have to just sip sip sip. I dont have dehydration problems. I still get in about 64oz per day but i start early in the day and keep sippin all day

4. FOR THE LADIES...is the "menses" normal, shorter, longer, or does it change at all??
mine wasnt normal pre op so i really cant answer this question. I have Endometriosis so mine is always painful and heavy...cant blame it on the surgery.
5. If u had to do it again would u?

Yes I would. I never was a healthy eater, but now I have no choice. I enjoy eating healthy. Like you diabetes and heart disease run in my family. I am 3months  postop and already I am off 3 medications

1. Has anyone ever been concerned about or lost TOO much weight?

I've was concerned about it but I'm sure it was all in my mind.

2. Is SEX normal after either surgery?

I don't know about normal, but it's damn sure cheaper when they charge by the pound.

3. DEHYDRATION...IE:since excersize is a priority and u get really thirsty after your workouts, does the size or the pouch accomodate ur thirst?? I mean are u able to quench ur thirst even tho' ur limited as to how much u can consume?

You can quench it, drench it, and if you're really creative you can wrench it, but it you drink too much water and can't get to a bathroom you may have to cross your legs and pinch it.

4. FOR THE LADIES...is the "menses" normal, shorter, longer, or does it change at all??

Sah dit tay!

5. If u had to do it again would u?

Yes.  I would.  WLS saved my life.  Thank you, WLS-fairy!  Thank you.
