Nope, not at all. I knew some things would hinder my weight loss but having them once in a while would be OK.
did you expect SOME things to ALWAYS make you sick?
Nope. At first all sugar free products hurt my stomach sooooo bad, but now they're fine. Nothing makes me sick at all anymore. White flour items make me a lil gassy, but not sick. I try not to eat them anyway because they have no nutritional value and hinder my success.
did you plan to leverage WLS as a tool to recraft your habits?
Yes. I ate too much. The restriction of my sleeve makes it down right impossible to eat a lot unless I want to make myself sick. Already barfed once....we aint doing that anymore!!! lol
did you expect WLS to 'make' you eat better?
Yes I did. I knew the things that DSers should stay away from in the beginning (simple carbs)were things that I was in love with. So to be successful I would have to hang them up for a minute. Oh I would go to the Amish market and get thier fresh white bread loaves and slice dem bad boys at home and slather them with butter........man o man. Heaven!! I haven't had any since 11/6 and my new jeans and hubby thank me LMAO The proof is in the pudding, and my short term success has motivated me to stay the course.

I REALLY thought this surgery would be a quick fix. I thought I would only be abe to eat small amounts and no sweets...EVER.
I planned to use my honeymoon period for training myself to eat right. Now the question is....did I do that? Not really! Still working on that at 2 years out.
I had NO IDEA about the head games, never gave it a second thought.
I am one who doesn't really dump so I have to use restraint to stay away from the stuff I know I shouldn't eat.
I really hope Allison bookmarks that previous post to use as a reminder to stay on point. This journey is hard as hell and although she seemed to feel she was jumped on, I really think the replies she received were mild in comparison to how I know some can come. Yeah, the truth hurts sometimes, but it will also keep you on track.

did you expect to NEVER eat some things?
yes, i think i'll never be able to eat buffalo wings, fried fish and french fries again. i think i'll never be able to drink alot of scotch & cognac ever again. i'm predicting that a thimble full of henny will get me right.
did you expect SOME things to ALWAYS make you sick?
I think fried foods will always make me sick.
did you plan to leverage WLS as a tool to recraft your habits?
yup, thats the plan.
did you expect WLS to 'make' you eat better?
nah, ultimately its up to me. sure, the tool will make me throw up whatever i eat that i wasn't supposed to eat....but its on me to do right and use the help the tool gives. its help, not a crutch.
Cause i ***** up about 4,5 wangs when I get ready!!!! and don't get me on the catfish - some hot sauce... WHEW LAWD....
Let's not discuss liquor- just destroy all your drinking glasses and stock up on thimbles......

I'm ok with that because those foods where killing me, and now just
about 11months out I'm eating better and my health has been so
much better than it has been in the last 7 years, and there are things that make me sick so I just stay clear of those foods, and for me nothing
taste as good as how I feel from being 355lbs to 197lbs today,so I
would'nt try to recraft my old eating habits.
Hey thanks for this questions it got me really thinking about how far
I've come.
Did you expect SOME things to Always make you sick? NO
Did you plan to leverage WLS as a tool to recraft your habits? NO
Did you expect WLS to make you eat better? I didn't expect WLS to make me eat better I always assumed that I would adjust and learn to eat better with the surgery.
I pretty much am by the book but it seems lately I have been testing the waters on trying new things.
I don't want to eat what I used to eat because it has done nothing but get me to where I am now. I just want to give my body the best opportunity possible to heal and get healthy. I know that the surgery is not magic and just because I have it doesn't mean I won't want the foods I used to. I'm just hoping that I will remember the journey to just get to the WLS with hopes it will keep me on the straight and narrow.
After I've learned and incorporated my lifestyle change (which I'm sure will take a while) then maybe at that point I'll trust myself to dabble here and there. I know though if I do that I risk falling back where I used to be.
Yes I did and I STILL haven't tried some things out of fear and the craving for them is gone
Did you expect SOME things to ALWAYS make you sick?
Yes anything high in sugar or carb. I don't do anything with high sugar even today unless its a bite size but those carbs I'm trying to get over.
did you plan to leverage WLS as a tool to recraft your habits?
Yes I figured the 18 month honey moon period was my one shot to get my habits uncer control and lay the foundation for the way I wanted to eat the rest of my life. Which is why I never went all natural or all organic or even everything freshly made. I knew my broke butt wouldn't be able to keep that up. So, I got on a meal plan that I knew I could continue with on my budget.
did you expect WLS to 'make' you eat better?
Yes but I don't think WLS makde me eat better it gave me the conscious to eat better. My whole thing from the beginning was if I do this right I have a tool that will help me get the weight off. If I try to slip and slide in the beginning I would always be slipping and sliding and 18 months will pass and I wouldn't reach my goa.
I followed my surgeon and Nut's advice to the letter from day one to month 8. Around that time I was down 130 lbs and lost over 90% of my excess weight and at that point began adding items in to my diet in moderation.
The funny thing is most of the items I "indulge" in I can only have a little bit because the taste is too much if I try to binge on it. I had my metabolims checked and my metabolism is processing like CRAZY right now so that pretty much everything I eat is being used and nothing is being stored. I'm now trying to get the excercise thing together because if I continue to eat the way I've learned to eat these past few months and not even become a gym rat but become more physically active I shoudl be able to maintain this weight as my lifestyle.
