HI everyone, not to bore you guys but I have 28 days left till I have my VSG I'm nervous but I'm not going into this blindly. The hospital I'm having my surgery done at has a pretty good WLS program, They try to team you up with a support buddy encourage you to come to support group meetings ect... Anyone have tips on what to expect when you arrive @ the hospital and when you wake up in the recovery room? How was your first 2 weeks @ home after your surgery?
Thanks everyone & God Bless
Oh If you had another kind of gastric surgery I'm open to read your comments as well.

Congratulations on your sleeve.   I am 6 months out-- VSG.  I love it !!  I am about 50 pounds down.

I returned (to work-desk job) one week post-op after flying from Ohio to Texas and then back home to Ohio.      No pains or issues :)

Hello Esheanewroad

I had VSG 1/14/2009 this was the first surgery I had ever had. For me the surgery was simple I was in a fog the first day there was some pain the first 2 days I went home the second day only used pain meds 1 day you'll be kind of sore for a few days but it got easy for me.

I had VSG back in Dec 08.  Check my profile for my story.  I am doing well.

I have lost about 50 lbs from pre-diet to now.  I feel great.  My knees no longer hurt.  My clothes are falling off and I have had to start shopping already.

The first week was rough for me.  But, that may not be your story.  Every day is better than the last.  At first it was difficult to drink fluids and it was hard to reintroduce food to my newly shaped stomach.  I no longer have problems eating and drinking and the restriction is great.

I had one!
Recovery awas fine for me.  Some discomfort when I first woke up, but no painkillers at all after that first day.  I only stayed at home 1 week after surgery and I was fine.  Sleeping was a little uncomfortable because I sleep on my stomach, so I slept in a chair for a couple of nights.
Otherwise, it was fine.

I had a VSG on 11/4/08.  The first couple of weeks were a little rough because I had a hard time getting my fluids in.  Everything tasted horrible until something happened on the 7th or 8th week.  I can't  tolerate sweet stuff and most of the protein shakes or bullets are sweet.
Your tastes will change some after the surgery.  I used to love bread but now I can live without it.

I've lost 46 pounds and I'm happy with that.  I could have lost more than that by now if I had been exercising.

I have not had the surgery yet but I am going for the VSG also. Good luck with your surgery.
