It's normal...it's definitely gonna happen/possibly get worse...and you should be happy in yourself and move on.

I went through it (still going through it, after almost 6 years!)...however, I've gained some pretty good friends in the process...and am glad I became so loved!! Oh wait...I mean...envied!!!

Do you, love!

Yes, this is normal. I've gone through the same thing with one friend in particular. She is supposed to have surgery this month and swears that I "stole the idea of surgery" from her, and while she checked in once or twice post-op, I haven't heard from her in 3 weeks. It is sad, because I thought she was a true friend, too... a friend I'd had for several years.

WAIT!  I just read you're in Fairfield?  I'm in Vacaville lol. Small world

SAD, unfortunate, but TRUE.  It's very common.

People aren't so threatened by the BIG girl.  You are their security blanket, but when that weight starts to shed and that 'other' person starts to be reveiled (in most cases WE the WLS patient never change in personality...just in outter piece) they get so scared that we want or are going to TAKE something from them...whether it be attention, their man or the fact that YOU are no longer the big girl you used to be.

If she's a true friend...she'll come back. It takes time.  Envey is tough and it'll take a while, but if she's true...no matter what...she'll return and apoligize and will admit that this was HER insecurity and had nothing to do with you....it she's your REAL friend.  If not, you don't need her anyway RIGHT

it's really sad that we as WLS folks have to deal with alot as it is (accepting our new bodies, adjusting to a new eating/exercising/watering routine and then have to deal with folks and their insecure mess)

I wish you luck.....

PEACE,   Harriet

Thank you everyone *****plied to this post.  I feel much better knowing that I am not alone in this situation.  I have always tried to support my friends in everything that they do and this situation continues to throw me for a loop.  I will continue to use my tool and become the best me that I can be and use this as a learning experience.  Thank you again BAF for your support.
