MY HAIR IS FALLING OUT!!!!
I had Realize band surgery on October 13, 2008 and I have lost 55 pounds since then. Over the past month, I have noticed that my previously thick hair is starting to get thin around the hairline. It seems like it's gotten really bad over the past two weeks. I have relaxed hair, but I have had my hair done 3 times since the surgery with no problems.
My protein intake has probably dropped since Christmas because I stopped drinking my protein shakes. I wasn't taking vitamins every day until recently. I know, I've been slipping. Has anybody else had hair loss problems, and if so, did the hair grow back? How long did it take to grow back? If the hair didn't grow back, did it stop falling out at a certain point? I've been severely depressed over the past week about this.
Please help me!

I think you already know what your doing wrong. So all I can say is fix that take your vitamins not just because of your hair. Keep your protein up as proteins are needed for strong muscles as well and I mean muscles like your heart.
Now some people take biotin to help the hair grow back thicker and fuller but, it will not prevent hair loss. As for me I was blessed to have really thick hair to start with so as it fell out I just had normal thickness. Now I've opted for well another look and I am happy with that.

You have to remember with this form of weight loss you are restricted and yes we all have had the hair issue in some form. I'm sure others can offer advice on how they dealt with it. For me, I rolled with the punches until I decided to have it cut down. It did come back and even though I go through some shedding even now, I always get a good conditioner when I get my hair done every two weeks. Also, be mindful with this change to become a healthier you, there are sacrifices to be made. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Remember 'this too shall pass'.
You need to take your vitamins faithfully. Also, consider giving up the perm...I don't have a perm and my hair is naturally thick and curly. I wear it straight by using a flat iron and really good products. I get protein conditioners every two weeks and I haven't had any hair loss since I had my surgery (September). Remember, a perm tends to thin out your hair and make it more elastic. The chemicals may also be a bit too much on you do to everything that is going on with your body. Good luck!
