5 days post op and still haven't found a decent protein shake
Thanks for that. I did discover today that I'm going to have to try the things myself. My mom is a nurse and brought me some beneprotein home. So I tried some and almost throw it up. She tried it and looked me dead and my face and told me it don't taste that bad. So I tried it one more time. When I bought throw up on her flood she didn't push me to drink anymore. So I'm thinking I'm a RTD girl. I had to just tell myself to man up.
Have you tried the Myoplex low carb RTDs? they sell those in WalMart - they not super tasty but cheap and will help you know whether RTDs are for you. I used them WAAAYYYY back in the beginning.
I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions! I'm saving on the newsstand price.......

Hello and congrats on your surgery. Also good luck in finding a protein for you. When I was first out I spent ridiculous amounts of money trying to find a protein for me. I was using unjury in the beginning (a little pricey and not as large as other proteins for that amount) and trying to find something not as expensive. I ended up back with unjury anyway. I tried the muscle milk, the syntax brand, beneprotein (disgusting) I even bought the fruity stuff in the bottle (sell at GNC) and the protein shots. You can find unjury at www.ebay.com or the unjury website someone mentioned and buy the sample packets. In my opinion, I can't smell or taste it. Or you can do the RTD but those get pricey also when trying to buy a case.
So again good luck!
So again good luck!

I HIGHLY recommend syntha 6 by BSN. Comes in several flavors and all I taste is the flavor. It's the oly one I've tried that make me gag or have an underlying taste (IMO) I use the vanilla ice cream flavor which gives you tons of options for mix ins.

It's all trial & error. I'm definitely a powder girl, as opposed to RTD.
Personally, I hated the RTD Muscle Milk Light. I have some of the powder as well, but was so disgusted by the RTD that I've punked out everytime I wanted to try it. (Must try it soon!)
I also hated the GNC brand 100% Whey Protein... in the red jug. OMG, the horror!!!
Today I picked up some strawberry Designer Whey... I've heard good things about it.
My fave thus far is CytoSport Complete Whey Protein. You can get it online at www.gnc.com or from the CytoSport website.
I think you can buy samples of various products at www.vitalady.com as well.
Keep trying. And best wishes!
It does get better. First of all, if you're like most of us the smell of protein drinks make you gag so I suggest that you put your protein shake in a covered cup so you can't smell it. Also there is a lady on OH that sells all types of protein samples for 1.99 a piece, her website is vitalady.com, that's what I did. I would mix the fruit flavored protein mixes with crystal light but only about half a pack because everything was too sweet to me. I also either used water or light vanilla soy milk. There are some soy milks that come in cappacino and chocolate flavors, they are not refrigerated and are found in the vegetarian section of your grocery store.
Take it slow and sip, sip, sip right now. I was like #1 Mack Mama for a little while also and did the ready to drink cans. I liked the EAS ones at Walmart but only the chocolate. It will take you a while to find something you will like but don't give up.
