Etta James disses Beyonce

Frenchie! I agree with you, people should be able to do what ever they want regardless of age! I guess I just thought it was a bit funny how she is arguing with Beyonce since she is old enough to be her grandmother and then I open up a picture and see all this blond hair...

But I will give Etta her props..SHE IS looking good for 71, I am not mad at her, in fact she is looking btter than Star Jones did after weight loss surgery...I swear I have not been drinking I am not sure what went on behind the scenes with B and Etta, but Beyonce SHOULD have made arrangements out of courtesy to ask permission to sing that song!! And why is Etta dissing Barak Obama? ......

I don't know why she's dissing Mr. President.  Maybe she genuinely doesn't like him.  Lord knows I disowned G.W. as my president and made fun of the way he looks!

I actually think its sad that Etta James would'nt be more honored that someone like Beyonce is paying homage ( sp)  to her. 

Beyonce is the hottest ticket out these days. It cant get no higher or richer  than her at the moment and I would think that Ms James  would be flattered.

Maybe she's bitter cause she's not  " cashing in  " on the re-emergence of the song  ??

You know money makes people feel and act a  whole lot different

When I read this today, I was wondering how long it will take before someone made a post about it on the board.

My response when I read it  and my response now ...

I think, B did the job she was asked to do and did it well, but nobody sings that song like Etta. But she was way out of line talking junk about Obama not being her president, that was uncalled for.

I have a different opinionon this I don't think it was untouchable song however Beyonce was asked to sing. Her choice Etta's song At last. Now, the classy thing for Ms. B to do was to call Etta and ask for permission to sing the song and maybe even asked the inaugaration committee if it was ok if she could even be in attendance to witness it. The thing "young heads" have to remember is that Etta, Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, BB King all had their stuff STOLEN from them by someone else be it the Beach Boys, Elvis, their record lable and they haven't gotten ther just dues for beign pioneers so I'm sure it had ntohign to do with her singing the song. It was the way Ms. B handled the situation like she was too big that Etta should be HAPPY that she sung her song. Who the hell! Etta was singignt hat song for nickles and for someone to come in regardless of who she is ESPECIALLY a sistah to do that is wrong. And especially when Etta  helped B in her portrayal of her in Cadillac Records.  Her feelings were hurt and she 71 years old she has the right to say it. Now what she said about Barack was just wrong it wasn't his decision or place to put a stop to that.

 

Jealousy at any age is so unattractive. I thought that Beyonce did a beautiful job on the song and I teared up watching the President and the First lady dancing to that song. It was a beautiful moment.

Etta...need to shut the heck up......

She ain't got no claim on "At Last".  Beyonce sang that song...and did a great job with it.  Etta sang that song...and did a great job with it.  But..........before Etta sang it...Nat King Cole sang that song...and did a great job with it.  And..........before Nat King Cole.......it was sang in the musical called Orchestra Wives..................waaaayyyyyyy back in 1941.
