Am I crazy? HELP!
Hey Fam,
I'm 9 days out from surgery and I had my post op appointment on Monday. I'm 13lbs. down Yay!
However, I'm a little bummed about my surgeons weight loss predictions. He says to expect a 3lb. loss per week. I was expecting a little more like 5lbs. Am I crazy, is 3lbs. a reasonable amount of weight for weight loss after surgery. I was thinking that people can loose 3lbs. with diet and exercises, I was expecting more from wls.
I know that my surgeon doesn't like for his patients to loose weight too quickly and not look healthy. I'm just worried that he made my pouch too big or he didn't bypass enough small intestine.
I always hear about new pre ops having problems getting the food down (which I take as a testament to how small the pouch is) but I have no problems at all. I ate almost an entire serving of instant oatmeal package with no problems. In your experience is this normal?
Please Please be honest, I'm loosing my mind here. I just keep thinking that I didn't risk my life and exhausting my time at work to end up still obese in a year and to still have to struggle with weight loss.
I'm really freaking out guys, don't say what you think I want to hear tell the truth. Not that I expect anything else from BAF.

First off calm down. Your surgeon definitely has his reasons for wanting you to expect 3lbs per week loss. For instance I only loss one pound last week. This week I have loss four pounds so he just wants you to be prepare for what ever. Nothing is standard with wls from my experience everyday and every food is different. I ate 3/4 cup of chili this week and was shocked but today I could only tolerate three spoons of oatmeal. So breath and flow with the journey and remember nothing is standard everyone and everything will be different. JMO you are doing fine.
