OT: Wednesday Bird Quiz

Well...I think my quizzes have been too easy the last couple of weeks.  Folks have been coming up with the answers within a few minutes.  So...I'm gonna "try" to make this one a bit more difficult.  The below bird is one of my favorites...(I know, I say that a lot...LOL.)  It's a "raptor" or probably better known as a type of hawk.  Most of the time when we see hawks we see them perched up high on something or soaring high in the air.  However, the below bird is most often seen low.  It will fly low over open grassy areas and can even be seen to "hover" low over an area looking for prey.  They are more known for being a bird of the north...like up in Canada and Alaska.  But this time of the year...they come down to the US in pretty good numbers.  But most of us city folks won't see them...because they do like open grassy areas.  However when I took a recent flight I did see one while getting ready to take off from the Indianapolis Airport.  (Airports have open grassy areas.)  Any guesses on what type of hawk this is?

(I decided on the below photo...because it show's something about this bird that makes getting an ID pretty quick and easy for us bird geeks...LOL.)

That big bird right there is what made a motorcyclist in NJ have a fatal accident.  It flew right in his face while he was riding on rt. 95 and he crashed his motorcycle and died.  I forgot the name of it.  Some type of goose something.  My memory is horrible.

very very good try ang.  however the bird in your picture is an "American Kestrel"...(aka "Sparrow Hawk")...and is about 1/3rd the size of quiz bird.  (It is our smallest falcon...and a beautiful bird)
