New Post-op Tip of The Day
Let's talk about tailbone pain !!!!! You're not imagining things, when you start feeling a lot of pain in your tailbone as you start losing weight. This is a common problem for wls patients. One of the main reasons has to do with that you're losing that natural cushion, the almighty bootay. Also when we lose weight at a rapid pace our skeletal system gets all out of whack because it was used to holding us up at one weight and struggling but now we change weight so quickly that our bones need a chance to catch up.
I've lost so much of my butt that my tailbone rubs the chair I sit in at work causing me great pain and numerous trips to my ortho.
It is a good idea to carry a pillow with you to sit on. There are pillows made with an area cut out just for the tailbone that will relieve that pressure. Yoga or simple stretches help some also. I haven't tried a chiropractor yet due to insurance issues but I have used one in the past as well as acupuncture.
You're not crazy and there really isn't much to help combat this pain yet but I'm sure we'll find a way. Maybe if I buy that butt at Fredrick's of Hollywood it wouldn't hurt so much.

Wow that is great info. to know. I had no idea that surgery existed. I've had the injections and I'm in constant pain too but I also have a pain disorder. Thanks for showing me this. You should put this link on my post. I have an old sick 'puter that can't do all of that copying and pasting right now. |
