Anybody else find this sad?

Last week while buying  a couple of bottles of wine i saw this.  I've been trying to decide what I think about it.  My first impulse was to feel ashamed.  Why oh why are our people targeted?  Do you think any other politican has a commemorative liquor bottle?

Obama is the man of the moment indeed. Everybody across the world is celebrating him so why should a major brand like Hennessy Cognac stay behind. Well, they haven’t as their collector-edition is out. Buzz is that 180,000 of them were produced to honour the 44th American president.

Not just that, Hennessy is all set to spread the goodwill spirit that Obama stands for. Well, this individually numbered bottle priced at just $30 will have a percentage of the total proceeds will bt going to the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. After all, isn’t that the college that prepares most of America’s leaders!

You can get your bottle in Washington D.C., Maryland, Illinois, New York City and Georgia. People overseas should not worry as eBay comes to their rescue, as always! We know you might say that the president-elect isn’t much of a drinker but for those of us who are, isn’t it just a great way to join in the celebrations. By the way, NY Magazine’s Grub Street would like us to believe that Obama is a whisky kindah man. Well, someone should remember to ask him in the next press con.

I think stuff like this is why President Obama is starting a legal defense to stop certain companies from using his name. We (Blacks) are the worse Exploited people in history. People say, post or put every negative thing in our Community and many will just accept it. No person, particularly a child, can walk by a sign or bill board everyday and NOT be influenced by it. As we saw with the Election of President Obama...WORDS ARE POWERFUL !!! That stix and stone stuff has played out...WORDS ARE POWERFUL...That is why it is said, "LIFE or DEATH is in the Power of the Tongue!" So, we can either add Life to our Lives by what we speak or read, or we can add death. We have to choose each day.

Maybe I am ignorant, confused or just don't plain understand.  But if I were to look at this bottle; I wouldn't think it had anything to do with President Obama.  But in hindsight it is sad and embarassing that this is being targeted to people in my neighborhood and/or african americans in general!

I understand you.  I'm not much of a drinker, and I have never even tasted Hennessy.  My initial thoughts were that this was one of the most ghetto things I have ever seen.  But Faith's post below leads me tothink otherwise.

There was a big sign and billboard thingy at the store proclaiming it was a commemorative bottle for Obama.  But read Faith's post below.

Jack Daniels calls their special edition the "inaugural barrel" whiskey.  I know JD started this for President Roosevelt and I am unsure of how many Presidents in between.  The barrel will age for another four years and then the proceeds from the sale of the whiskey will go to the charities of President Obama's choice.

Hell - it ain't OLD ENGLISH!!!!  LOL - and personally - it's classy to me - how many REAL *****s on the grind YOU know drink Hennessy?  PLENTY!!!  Ain't nothing GHETTO bout H - and Jack Daniels neither. 

Hell - even thought I am not drinking I want one of those!  LOL - will have to hide it from BF - H is his drink.......... LOL
