I had read some literature on this topic prior to me getting my lap band. These studies are biased and skewed, hell I got the easiest weight loss surgery there IS.. the lap band and I still lost most of my weight. This is just another attempt to make blacks folks feel like they are inferior in every aspects of American society. As Obama says YES WE CAN DO ANYTHING we put our minds to it...
If I fell for this type of BS I would not be sitting here at work as a Senior Software engineer among many white men, I am a miniorty in what I do..there are not many black women that are software developers, I worked hard and proved them wrong, I refused to get any other weight loss surgery other than lap band because I knew it would work for me, I know when I put my mind to something I can do anything that I want to do.
That is like saying oh..you can't read just because you are black, I don't eat a lot of fried foods, pork, and other dangerous foods that is bad for my health, do I enjoy eating? you betcha, but the reason I was obese was that I gained a whole lot of weight from yo-yo dieting and not exercising and eating too much.
I have seen this printed many many times and it is nothing but an attempt to say black folks are inferior at losing weight when I see as many whites don't lose enough weight after wls as blacks.--UGH!!
