New Post-op Tip of The Day

Today's tip is to read labels. It is very important to read food labels so you know what you're eating. Pay very close attention to the protein content, carbs, sugar, and fiber. Remember carbs and sugar can be the devil to post-ops.

There are even food scales you can buy that will weigh food for you and tell you how many carbs, calories, protein etc. in it. I've seen a couple of them on QVC and I'm sure that Amazon probably has one and probably some stores like Walmart, Target or somewhere like that. This would be great because when you're only eating about 2-3 ozs at a time you want to get the most protein dense foods. These types of scales have codes to put in for different foods.

Of course many people use sites like fitday.com and other sites for tracking their foods. I'm sure a veteran will give you the name of the other websites they use because I can't remember them right now.  lol

www.mydailyplate.com is a great tracking site for foods and activities!

www.parkpeople.com works too!!!!

And labels are SO important - PAY ATTENTION to serving size!  Nothing like eating a pack of something you THINK is only 200 cal only to find out you just ate THREE servings!!!!!  LOL

I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions!  I'm saving on the newsstand price.......
