support and advice need... this journey is getting the best of me...

I really wish I could offer yo some help.  Initially I lost 50 lbs right away, most though was from my liquid diet phase.  The one thing that has made a huge difference for me is having my band and port checked. Turned out with my flipped port the previous fills really weren't in the band at all.  I now have 6cc in a 14 cc band and I feel the restriction.  In the 2 weeks since I had my port replaced I have lost 10 lbs without much effort.  For awhile there I was regretting my surgery choice but now that I have a truly functioning band it makes a world of difference.

Please go back to your Dr and NUT and have them support you.

Wishing you the best.

Michelle,
Hey lady! I am so glad you are seeing some results now... It was only a matter of time, after your port revision. I had an appointment with my doctor a couple of weeks ago... I think the problem  my just be me. I knew going in that I am a very slow loser... I tend to build muscle really fast... Sometimes, when I get off the treadmill, with no incline at all, my legs feel like lead.... I am going to make some adjustments to my diet, and see what happens... I know if I just hang in there, something will give....

Keep working your tool, you are on your way!!!

Thank you for your kind words.  Actually I think I might be too tight right now.  I haven't been able to tolerate anything more consistent than cottage cheese since my last fill.  I'll be seeing the surgeon wednesday for a slight unfill.

Bless your heart. One of my biggest fears with this band is being too tight. Thank God, that has not happened to me, and at the rate things are going, it never will... Even at 10.25 ccs, I can still eat anything... I wish I was one of the ones that could not eat bread, that would be such a blessing.  You are currently and going to be an even bigger success... It will be wonderful when we all get to the place we feel is home.... Take care!

Hi Michelle,

First let me tell you that you are doing just fine.  I am 18 months in and have lost 80 lbs was down 100 but could not take the fact of getting sick all the time and had to be loosen and gained some of my weight back but I am OK with that.

60lbs is great remember you should really only be loosing 5lbs a month for a healthy weight lost so you are right where you need to be to win this battle.  Also remember that every ones body is different and you may be doing better than some so keep your head up and remember GOD will get you through this.

Also see if you can find a face to face support group in your area that way you can see for yourself and meet other people who are going through what you are.  Like I said I am 18months in and will be going to my first group meeting this coming Monday to help me with my issues and believe me I have some (lol).

Dreadz,
Thank you so much... When I see other's results I feel like I am really doing something wrong... But like you said, everyone's body is different... Thank you again, I needed your kind words. And you are correct about the support group meetings. I have only been to one since being banded, and I was glad I went to that one. I guess I am going to have to just take a few hours of vacation to attend the meetings. I know it would be worth it... Please keep in touch....

Thank you so much,
Michelle

Sorry you are feeling frustrated, but you mentioned that you just lost 12 pounds one month and 10 the next -- WOW that's great, your body may be trying to catch up, also when you have a big lost, you have to cut back even further and increase excercise to keep the scales moving, you also may need another small fill too if you are eating a bit more, sometimes after a 10 to 20 pound weight drop your band will loosen around your stomach and you need to get it tighten again with another fill. The key to good weight loss is NO snacking, eating lean proteins, eggs, and green veggies be careful with salads they have a lot of hidden dressing that is packed with calories and also lettuce have NO nutriional value and usually we add stuff that make it taste good but increase the calorie load....the key to quick safe weight loss is protiens, water, no calorie teas, and exercise. good luck

Naomi,
Thank you! Maybe my body is playing catch up... I am considering doing a week of just protein shakes to get me back in gear. I am just praying that I can stick to it... I need to also start preparing my meals in advance to make sure I do not eat the wrong things. With working full-time, and being in school full-time. I sometimes don't have time to do what is best for me... But I am going to have to make the time... What are some of your favorite meal combinations? Maybe I need to do a post about meal combinations to get some ideas... I am going to try a few things, and if they do not work, I am going to give my doc a call and schedule a little fill...  I am going to try to be patient and see what happens.

Thank you,
Michelle

To put it quite simple. it not what you you eat but how you are eating.....Protein is what work with restriction, no way around it...Protein is what stick with you and keep you full until the next meal..no way around it...Protien...veggie, at good restriction, you will seldom have room for starch, however if you eat a bit of chicken, a bite of veggie, and bite of starch, sure you can eat more, I know most folks who is not OCD does not eat like that however try it for a month and see if you dont see the different, measure out your food.  Eat your protein first, then move to your veggie and come back to me and tell me if that did not make a world of different to your weightloss.

Good luck

okay, I am going to give this a try... it sounds good, and you are correct, it is what I eat. I do not eat profein first... I know I should but most times I do not. I will let you know how things go.

thank you,
michelle
