How do you handle getting layed off ?
But seriously, you pray and you get on your grind. You make sure the resume is on point and you don't quit pounding the pavement. Don't believe the hype, there are plenty of companies hiring. You just got to work hard to get in the door. In this economy employers understand that you are laid off and it doesn't reflect your worth.
When I was laid off from Waste Management, I felt like my world would end. I loved that job and didn't think the lay off would touch me. I laid on the couch for 6 months before even looking because I was emotionally devastated. Let me tell you when I got of my butt and started looking thats when I saw GOD really do the work. So don't throw any pity parties. Wake up get showered and dressed like you got somewhere to go, and get to looking. You may not have a place to go to on Monday but you definitely got WORK to do and your JOB is looking for a job. Don't rest. Hit it everyday!!!!! If you want to send me your resume I will do some searching for you I still have a lot of friends in management.
Working on me - want to be better in everyway not just physically!!! Its a process no time to judge or be judged!!!!

I lost my job twice in 2003 and 2007. Both companies moved to states where they could pay lower wages. The first time I panicked, the second time I used my severance and retention bonus to pay bills up for several months and just chill while I mapped out my plan to return to school.
Figure out what you really want to do. Don't rush back into the workforce and a job that you don't really have a passion for.

I had a handicap because of course it was around the holidays(both of them)so I cascaded my resume out every day so when the holidays were over they would have it.

Its out there....just make sure that you know that looking for a job should be treated as a job. We live in the internet era........get online, on the phone

If you lose your job another door will open for you just stay positive and put your skills and knowledge to good use. Take this time to learn something new, perhaps change a career path, expand your horizons, stay positive and keep your head up.
ETA: try online sites like Monster.com, Careerbuilder.com, and there are a host of other online webites that you can get tons of new job listings, just google them, also make sure you brush up your resume and to enhance all of your skillsets...good luck
But, if it were me I would be somewhere enjoying myself and planning on what I would do with my free time. I would imagine taking classes to improve my skills or make myself more employable. Point is I wouldn't waste one minute worrying about the job I am leaving. I would be rejoicing in the blessings that God is about to bring me.
