Hello, I had my surgery 3/7/2007, I started at 276lbs size 3x, I got down to 147 size 8. i had to stop there because  I'm one of those people that don't look very well thin. Well I stood on the scales recently, I did this because my jeans and underwear were felling awfully tight, I've gained 17lbs! I tried all last week up til tonight to diet, I gained two more pounds, so tonight I gave up and ate about 8 small Ginger Snap cookies, now I'm feeling very bad ffor doing this. I've forgotten the rules. If anyone is listening and can understand what it is that I've done, won't you talk to me?

Hi Gwen,

You have fallen off the wagon.  You have to get the rule book out and recommit yourself to the rules that got you to the 147.  I have been where you are on more than one occasion since having WLS surgery.  WLS is a journey not a final destination and you cannot get complacent and think that the pounds are gone "forever."    My suggestion is for you to go back to eating your protein first so you will get full quicker and remain full longer and if you are not exercising, please start exercising at least 30 minutes per day at a minimum of 3 days per week.  Watch out for the CARB MONSTER as well.  Good luck to you and I hope you can regroup and get back on track.

I thought MOST RNY folks would get sick if they ate sweets, but anyway, when ever I have gained weight, I immediately increase exercise, proteins and water, you should get back on track...Good luck

Talk about has anybody been there.  YESSSSS!!!! We all have and if anybody says they have not, then they are lying or just wait their time will come.  We all have been there and can understand. THe first step is recognizing (which you have) the problem, and then doing something about it.  Combine diet and exercise.  Say no to the emotional triggers of eating.  Say no to getting on the scale too much or letting the scale determine what you do.  You are going to have a committment to a lifetime of watching what you eat and exercising regardless of what the scale says.  I hope this helps.  Good luck to you.  I just gained 20 lbs during the holidays so I am where you are.  Trust me no judgement here, just praying for you to get back on track.
