Exercise
I workout everyday and take rest days as needed or as forced. But, when I was new out I did work out as my body saw fit. If I could walk around the block and it took 45 min to an hour I did it. SO I could go further in less time. Three things
#1 Listen to your Dr when you are early out
#2 Listen to your body it won't lie and there is a difference between burn and injury
#3 Find something you like
For me walking turned into running and now it is all about the muscle toning up whatever I can.

I walked maybe for a month or so right after sugery but after that, I am ashamed to say that I did not exercise at all up until December 2008. My trainer has stated for me to see results that I need to workout at least 3 times per week. My workouts consist of weight training and toning and 30 minutes on the treadmill at 7.5 incline with a low speed of 3.2. So, normally I am in the gym for about 1-1 1/2 hours depending upon which area of my body I am working on. I have three separate workouts so I don't get bored. My trainer also said if I came 4-5 times per week I will see the results quicker. I am working on building up to that. I had made it to 4 days per wee****il I injured my ankle last week so in the interim I am going back to 3 days. I agree with LaVerne that you should at least get 30 minutes in per workout. Good Luck to you.

When I first had WLS, I worked out 5 to 6 days a week. I started with 15 mins per workout and gradually increased the time and the intensity when I started to get bored or the workout was getting too easy. Another piece of advice would be to change up your workout. Try some yoga or pilates or an easy workout dvd once or twice a week. AN excellent one is Walk Away the Pounds by Leslie Sansone. She has a dvd the has three workouts on it : a 1 mile (18 mins.), 2 miles (30 mins) and 3 miles (45 mins).. lots of bang for your buck. Also, to make the workouts more interesting and challanging, you can use lightweight dumbbells.

Good luck.

When I am being good, I do about an hour 4-5 days a week. Start with weights, alternate daily upper or lower...then 30-35 min of some type of cardio. I'm trying to get my endurance back up so right now that is mainly jogging on the treadmill...but also do the elliptical or just walk. Every blue moon the stair stepper or the stair machine or a bike.
