New Post-op Tip of The Day

Remember the days when you were pre-op and you said, "just one more bite" and you ate 2 more slices of pizza or cake or pie etc. Well once you're post-op, listen to your smaller tummy or pouch when it says, "that's enough" .

One more bite after your pouch is full could result in vomiting, pain, dumping and even diarrhea. I'm telling you from personal experience that it does not feel good at all. There are 4 things that I keep on hand that helps with a distressed pouch or tummy.
1. Papaya Enzymes (found any place you might find vitamins, I get mine at Walmart) helps with digestion.

2. Chamomille Tea soothes your tummy and hot drinks help things that are stuck go down

3. Gas X strips to relieve that bloated gassy feeling

4. Dissovable Prevacid (this was a prescription that my surgeon gave me and says that he gives every patient this for the first year of surgery)

It is not good to eat even one bite past satisfied after surgery because you don't want to start bad habits. So eat slowly, take small bites and chew thoroughly. Listen to your body.

Thanks for the tip. I have to remind myself of this daily. I'm a former member of the clean plate club.

I am far from being a newbie but I can really attest to that one bite past satisfaction suffering.  My first thought was that the band is too tight.  No just put too much in the mouth.  Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks Rita

Also wanted to add peppermint is a big help to me.  I chew peppermints or drink peppermint tea when I am having problems with my pouch or after dumping or feeling nauseous!!  Oh and also ginger.  Ginger tea or flat ginger ale!

Thanks Nikki for that tip. I'll have to add some peppermint tea to my grocery list because I get nauseous from my migraines.

This tip is meant for me today,  I had half slice of pizza and I had only like a bite left and I was going to eat it so not to throw it away but then I was like why,  and Becca ate it.  LOL.

Thanks for the tips Rita
