On how to deal with constant travel and WLS.  My job requires me to run all over the state.  Well I have been making sure I have my Isopure with me, but it is hard as heck to always get in actual meals.  Then I am so afraid of getting sick or eating to much I have anxiety attacks :-) when I have lunch with someone.  I feel disfunctional as HE**.  I am so use to thinking I know every da** thing and now I don't even know what to eat, the only thing i can say is I have learned when enough is enough.  I am 7 weeks out please pass on your experience and suggestions that may help me.

Thanks
-DEE

Try and stick to things that you know worked well at home.  I can't remember, but are you able to eat salads at this point?  That was always my "safe" meal when I was out.

You might want to make soup your best friend when you are eating out with others, so that you wont have anxiety attacks about getting stuck.

I had a different surgery but I stick with bake fish and soups like clam chowder, or baked potato soup.  I travel for business occassionaly and dread getting stuck 'in-front of company'!.

I don't think you guys get 'stuck' but don't eat anything that will make you dump!  Avoid sweets and other dumping foods (sorry don't know what dumping foods are but I heard of dumping syndrome LOL)

Travel was part of my life when I first had my surgery.  Soups were my best friend and this time of year, a woman and a diet are synomous.  I had my surgery in February every time I was at a multi-course dinner I pulled the kid-trick of moving everything around my plate.  I always made sure there was fish (I could stand that then).  Good luck.

Hi
During the week, I travel every day.  I usually keep water in my car and in my purse.  I try to drink the water before going to lunch.  At lunch, I do not order any beverages.  At lunch, I try to order something I know.  If it is not on the menu, then I make them create me something.  I have had luck with grilled chicken and a veggie or potato.  I have also had Olive Garden - pasta soup.  When I first started eating regular food, I would go to Chili's and order the Enchilada soup without the extra toppings.  I would also eat very slowly.

Even now, I can't eat a full meal so, I will sometimes order something off the kids menu and I have a female coworker that I will sometimes share a meal with.  She will order a meal and have them to split the meal in half - 2 plates in the kitchen.  She usually orders an additional salad as if I ate a side salad, I would be too full to eat it.

I am still very limited on the quantity I can eat so most time, I only eat half of a meal anyway.

Does this help?

Hi QueenDe.  I had my surgery out of state and remained post-op for about 2 weeks.  The nutritionist suggested getting broth (soup) and heating it in the hotel coffee maker about 30 minuted before eating.  It worked.   Progresso has a great chicken & cheese enchilada soup that is so yummy.  Good luck.
