I get the shakes and light headed! So with my dad being a diabetic he tells me to immediately chew a piece of candy or drink oj.

I'm in this study at the hospital I had my surgery. They're testing metabolic and endicrine changes in the body before and after WLS. The use glucose to see how your body reacts. I don't have diabetes so every time they are down my sugar level is really low since my pancreas is working so well. I have to stay there eating chocolate and drinking orange juice for another 30 mins to bring it back up. I am always sweaty, light headed, and a lil upset to my stomach.

Hi Stacee...
I think one of my first symptoms is that I feel "slightly" nauseous.
I then will sometimes have difficulty thinking and I actually get angry very easily...(And I thought I was just angry because I'm an ex-drill seargeant)
I then will sometimes have a hard time walking and my vision will get blurry...
And then...(only 2 or 3 people knew this until now)...I will pass the freak out. (I did this for the first and only time back in Oct.)
SO IT'S NOTHING TO PLAY WITH!!!
I think you definitely need to get a blood sugar monitor. You can get them pretty cheap. I saw some on Ebay for about $10 w/free shipping. (You can even find places that will give them away for free...because they make their money selling those test strips.)

Same as Doug ....I get real lethargic (sp?) ....confused...clumsy, shakey and light-headed
Thanks Doug...yeah i break out into a sweat and feel really weird...and I have passed out too before, but not since WLS. I passed out shortly after I tore my ACL and had a blod clot. I was on blood thinner and went out for my bday and had two mild drinks and next thing i know i was on the floor under the table at the club....talking about embarassed!!! but from this point on, i know what it feels like if I am getting ready to pass out.
I will definitely check into buying me a monitor!!!

well i have not posted here in a lonnnng time but I will answer this one, i use to get the shaky hands and cold sweat then my memory would go into a stall where one thought would get stuck in my mind or its hard to focus, then I would get sick to my stomach, and then finally it would feel like i am walking with bricks in my shoes, but thank god I have been off all diabetes meds for the past year and the doctors says it appears all symptoms have been reversed.
