Good afternoon,
what I am venting about doesn't surprise me in the least, but I'm still venting none the less and wonder if you have noticed the same.

Ofcourse everytime President Obama sneezes it makes top story of the news, but I am noticing more times that not that he is being addressed by the media as Obama, Mr. Obama, and I've even heard one reporter say Barack. wtf... I know this takes some getting used to but at least give him some respect and address him correctly
.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes and it is ******g the hell out of me, for real.

I have put several folks in their place in the last almost week, referring to him as Barack, that guy and what not.

I told one guy, the next time he does it in my presence, he will need to put in a complaint that he is creating an "hostile work environment" because his attitude is giving me the desire to go hostile on his behind.

Had this one colonel in the arm forces who sent out an mass email referring to him as "that guy", my sister also military was on the list and was mad as hell but did not know what action if any she could take, I told her to forward me the email and then to sit back and smile.  His email was telling folks that if they voted for him, they should be ashamed, and all sort of other ugly things.  Lets just say that he has an appointment to explain why he is not giving his Commander-in-Chief due respect in an email that he is sending out to lower enlisted soldiers.  My thoughts, he
don't have to like him as a man..that is his rights, however there are certain respect that goes with that position and I be dog gone if in cases like this if I sit back when I have prove that it is happening and can do something about it and don't.

ETA: I am talking them making derogatory comments, not then calling him by his first name.

I noticed it a few weeks ago, and then I noticed some intentional correction happening as well.  President Obama has made himself very touchable, approachable.  That combined with the obvious of his assignment still being abnormal or a shock to some.  I believe that for the most part people will begin to address him properly, some folks still don't address the former President properly either.  But I did notice it too, those of us who are in support of President Obama have to be concious that we set the proper example as well.  It may take some time, but Change has come and it will continue!

That's true,
from the start I never referred to him as Obama. I personally didn't notice any disrespect to President Bush from the media, although I did when it came to our people's reference so you make a good point.

I have noticed it as well and I have tried to not allow it to upset me.  However, it has been a week already and by now everyone should be used to it.  It is like when a new year starts it usually takes me about 3-5 days to not write the previous year on documents/checks/etc. and I feel everyone should be used to calling him President Barack Obama by now...JMO.

Yes indeed Faith,
and I meant to add that it is not just white people either, it was actually a black newscaster that I heard on today. She referred to him as Obama and it jumped out at me immediately.

it bothers me a little...but not that much...

hell the only time i called "president bush"..."president"...was when i would say..."ya'll's president".  most of the time i refered to him as "bush" or "W".  (i know "technically" he was my president...but i just couldn't say it...lol)

now???  i love saying..."President Obama"...cause he's a president i can give proper  respect to.

(of course this is just my personal opinion Yess...)
