Just wondering what I can expect post-op. Welcoming any advice or suggestion.
I'm a bit nervous, but also just ready to get on with living the rest of my life healthier.
My ex-lover and now great friend is going to look after me after, any advice for her?

Hi There,

I can't help you with the question you asked but I was wondering the exact thing. You are having your surgery the day before mine so we can get help together.

When nothing else could help................LOVE lifted me!!!!

There will be pain (some have minor, some have major).  There will be gas, I'd recommend Symethicone Drops or Gas-X strips, they work wonders.

You won't have any appetite and will not feel like drinking, but it is vital that you do to prevent dehydration.

Try and walk as much as you can, it will help move the gas and get you in the habit.

You'll get frustrated with your limited food choices, some suggestions are SF Popsicles, SF Jello, Low Sodium Broth, Plenty of water,  Soups, Cream of Wheat, Mashed Potatoes, SF Puddin, of course Protein Shakes.

You may even question why you had the surgery, but believe me.....it does get better.  Best wishes to you.

well said Hershey.  I'm 3 weeks post op and still dealing with gas...it left and came back after I added milk to my shakes.  Well, I guess I'll be doing Lactaid.  You'll also go through head hunger but you'll be fine.

I've always been lactose intolerant. I guess it will be soy for me too.

I can't do any of it Milk, lactaid, or soy....all makes me dump. I can do cream, only a little in coffee...dunno what's up with that but i guess it's for the best that I can't eat ice cream, lol.

Make sure you get sugar-free popsicles...i like tha Eddy's whole fruit or the Lifesavers brand....they come in very helpful when you have a sweet tooth or just need a little something to relieve hydration....but try to get alot of your water in, it's difficult at first (I could only do ice cold water) but it's very necessary. Good Luck on your journey.

I tried the soy and just didn't like it.  I still have some gas with the lactaid but it's much better than with milk.  I'm stopping  by walmart today to pick up my 3rd box of gas x strips.  My friend's grandmother stole my other boxes when she was drunk...it's a long story.
