So this morning my BMW it would not start, I have another car also, 2003 Toyota Camry, I went outside to start it up - it would not start up either...(well I have not driven this car in 5 months so that is understandable).
It is VERY cold outside and just began snowing, I called my Emergency Roadside insurance and a guy came out a few minutes ago to start up my BMW ( it is my garage) which is in the back of my townhouse, he looks at me like I am alien and he says where is your car? with a very southern accent and has tobacco in his mouth...I says it is in my garage in the back, so he drives around and try to start up my car, and it does not crank (DUH) and the lights shine very bright...then he says...NOPE not your battery, where do you want me tow your car? I says...can you at least try to start the damn car? I pay good money for Roadside assistance and I expect you to at least start my car up....then he pulls out the cables and and put them on and get into the car and start up the car again...MY BMW starts up right away and then he looks stupid and then I ask him can you start up my Toyota while you are here...he then says...Oh it is not on the PO (I guess short for Purchase order) and then I says..gee it will only take you 5 minutes to start my Toyota and I WILL pay for this...and I got so angry with this fool..I said that's OK..enjoy your day...
I am callling his company RIGHT NOW to complain...UGH!! I hate lazy ignorant folks that hate their jobs!!! ...Thanks for listening to my VENT!
Not sure why you will call his company he is dispatched an assignment to go and start a BMW Vin# yada yada yada the Camry is not on the dispatch order yea he could of started it..... but liability issues he can NOT if something were to happen to your Camry his job would be on the line......
next time you have a car sitting up for months just disconnect one of the battery cables when your ready to drive it it should start right up.
Thank you Ms Robyn for your res pose, I did not complain about my Toyota, I know it was not in the contract to inquire about the Toyota, but my complaint was about him hesitating to even trying to start up my BMW and assuming that it was not my battery since the lights came on, it was his entire attitude that I am pissed off about, yea I know he was not contractually obligated to touch my Camry; it was common courtesy to try to help a few citizen with a broke down car especially when I agreed to pay for the jump off.
What if I was on the side of the road bleeding and needed help should he ignore me and not call 911 just because it was not of his business, that was my whole point when I filed a complaint this morning with Gieco, they would only do business with companies that are more considerate and "friendly" to their well paying customers. I called Gieco and filed a complaint and they AGREED with me that that towing company should have help even though they were not obligated to do so.
I have never ever had a man not help me with my car, I have always had men to change my tire or jump my car off for FREE...I guess I was just shocked this morning....and perhaps he was pissed of that I called him that early in the moring..but thanks for the tip on the battery, in the future I will disconnect the cables when I am not driving it. -- Now I am off to work, hopefully my car has fully re-charged by now.
In this case the guy was not being ignorant or lazy nor showing that he hate his jobs....he was doing his job according to his company policies and how was you going to pay, he had no PO there to charge you for the work, and I am sure that the company policy restrict the workers for taking money for doing side job. Yes, he should have tried to jump start your "BMW" prior to thinking of towing it, but that is the only thing that I can see that he did not do correctly.

Laverne, perhaps I should have provided clarity...I filed an official complaint REGARDING MY BMW NOT MY CAMRY; However, I just mentioned my Toyota in my complaint and YES, I DO have a right to file a complaint about him hesitating to jump my BMW off, I had to ask him several times before he did so and then after my BMW started up...he mentioned oh..these BMW work differently, I called him out to jump start my BMW NOT to self diagnose.
AND YES...in my opinon and Gieco's opinon as well, he should not have hesitated to jump my car off and out of common courtesy he SHOULD have jumped my Toyota regardless if was not under contract to do so, all he was required was to call back into his main office and put in an order to jump off the Toyota...thanks for you opinon.
ETA..I did not REALIZE my Toyota would not start up until after he came out...so all it would have taken was a simple phone call to put in another order....I am purchasing jumper cables today and hopefully I can take care of stupid things like this myself, I normally call my ex or boy friend to help out with these things, but since I am paying for Roadside assitance I think I should at least use them when I "need them".
Naomi, my apology. I really need to learn that most of the time when folks put stuff on here that they really are just venting and not expecting my attempt of being logical and most of the time, what I type is not what they want to hear any way. I need to learn to look for the word "vent", which you clearly had in your original post and just read and move on to the next post.
I hope your day ends 100% better than it started.
Take care!!
before you get upset this isn't a flame/criticism nor a suggestion about how to tell your own story, i'm just curious about the significance of mentioning your cars by make (and year) - they could've just as easily been referred to as car 1 and car 2.
i agree with you that it would've taken him a couple minutes to start the toyota and, from his perspective, i kinda agree with laverne - with 2 more cents thrown in - at 4 something in the morning you were probably this guy's first call. people who work in service start paying real close attention to policy and procedure if they're being treated discourteously. next time wunna the rides acts up batt those pretty lashes and come outside with a coffee thermos, he'll start em both up for free.
i know you're just venting, this wasn't really a question, but dammit if it didn't drag me away from the paperwork.
