Long distancers...how do you do it?

Taw, I'd be the first to agree that the phone doesn't replace real life.....my husband was in Iraq when we met, there was no every month meetings for us all we had was a phone and a web cam. Once he got home, we did the once a month visits back and forth for a few months and it was torture. Even after we married, the once a month visits continued until I actually moved to be with him which was 5 months later.....so if anybody knows what ur talking about, trust me...I do. Good luck with your move...Florida is the BOMB!!! lol

wrote real (paper) love letters to each other

it sounds corny but it's easier to *cherish* when you're not geographically close, you don't take each other's time and visits for granted.  gurl you see how fast we got from thanksgiving to valentine's day?  thas how quickly it'll pass.  ain't no real way to make it easier but you can say stuff to remind yourself how strong you are:  "i'm raisin this big ole water head boy by myself and that's not even the hardest thing i've ever been through"   you can do this standin on yo head chica.

Thank you!  It's definately not the hardest but I'm a very impatient person once I make my mind up.  LOL

There's no easy way to deal with it, you just have to keep in sight that things WILL happen the way you want them to.  Just cherish the time you two spend together and communicate often.

When my husband and I did this, we talked on the phone, wrote notes & sent pics.  We did this and yes it was hard.  Another thing I did was make sure that I did not talk to him daily!  Why?  I wanted him to have time to live and know that I trusted him.  Time for him to be clear that I was the woman he wanted forever. Time for me to connect with friends, family and myself.  I wanted to connect with him every moment of everyday but I had to be smart and not emotional.

Next month, will be our 16yr anniversary and we have two daughters 11 & 13 and it seems like it was just yesterday tha I was checking the mail for letters from him.  BTW, he was 3000 miles away, I was in California and he was in Maryland.

Its workable....and it makes you work hard at making it work. Letting you know weather or not its really all worth it. My hunnie and I only see each other about twice a month.  She is about 315 miles away. We'll be together atlast come this August. She lives in Ocala...and I in Miami...but we'll be moving to Tallahassee together.
