This will be short and sweet because I'm suffering a migraine.

Exercise is very important to your success. Yes exercise helps with weight loss but it also helps to keep your heart healthy , tone muscles, release stress and endorphins, and to build your bone mass. This is very important because of our malabsorption, we need to help calcium citrate and vitamin d to make our bones strong and protect us from osteoporosis. Caffeine leaches the calcium from our bones so be very careful with caffeinated drinks. Weight bearing exercises help with this and of course aerobic exercise with weight training.

You should ask your surgeon for a bone density test from time to time due to our surgery. I wouldn't as****il at least 1 yr. out and maybe annually after that or whatever your surgeon suggests.

You will have some loose skin and that is determined by how overweight you were, your genetics and how your skin snaps back. Exercise will tone the muscles under the skin but it won't make skin that is hanging due to obesity snap back. Everyone is different and the amount of skin and how toned you will be will be different for every person. Weight training is a good thing for us and it has been shown to have good results. Make exercise a part of your plan.

Hey Neena!!
I've been meaning to tell you--I love your "newbie" posts. Thank you--EXACTLY what the board needs!! Being almost 3 years out, I can still utilize your postings as a reminder of what I STILL need to be doing to maintain and ensure winning the battle. Thanks again.

1.) The BACKLINES have backlines. Watch what you say and more importantly WHO YOU SAY IT TO!! 2.) There are NO secrets on BAF. DON'T BE FOOLED!!
3.) The person who says: "I'm going to tell you something, but you can't tell anyone." has already TOLD 50 other people!
No--this isn't from experience--well, not MINE anyway!

I don't know if anyone mentioned this to you (they probably did), but what you're doing here is greatly appreciated.  I for one need some reminders.

Thanks

Oh Rita... The caffeine thing is having me like this.  I can't start my day without 1-2 coffees.   Its that one thing I don't think I will ever give up, and I'm guessing the people in my life don't want me to either!

I appreciate this information too.  I lot of this is what my doctor's office said but I didn't know some of this stuff.  this is definately useful information.  I have been working out about 4 days a week now to prepare myself for surgery.  I know I need to work myself up to at least 6 days 30 minutes a day.

Hey Neej....I hope your migraine is gone.  If not put a bag of frozen peas on the back of your neck after you pop your medication...it freezes the muscles and allows for the meds to work...I know it sounds archaic but I suffer too and I can tell you it works.  Good luck, sis.
