I agree wholeheartedly with the others.... I did NOT tell my coworkers about my wls. The way you described your office environment, they don't sound like the kind of people you want in your business.... nah, you alright..... I wouldn't tell them.... Congratulations on your wls... all the best to you.

I agree with all the ladies.I only told my close friends.I told about five people at work that are really close.People are so negative about you doing something so positve to make yourself live a lot longer.Im going to use the gym and changing my eating habits.I have not had surgery yet but Im ready for the questions with a smile on my face.Girl I work out three to five times a week.Always have healty snacks and your water.Good luck to you and I can totally understand you.

Hey Surgery Sister!    I don't go back to work until Feb 9th, but I didn't tell anyone any specifics about my surgery... and I don't plan to!  I like what one poster said about telling them it's a high protein diet & exercise.  (It really is!)  I just don't get personal with people at work.  Never have... probably never will.

I am choosing not to tell because I have heard the comments made about a couple of other people who had the surgery.  People will talk about your surgery as if they know more about your business than you know yourself.  Then theres that old negativity that always creeps up.  "Girl aren't you afraid"  "I heard the complications are awful" and so forth, which can be quite depressing.  Also the old "doesn't so and so look good?, oh you know she had that WLS".  I don't plan on telling anyone at work because you do become the topic of discussion and if something happens with your health, it will because of your WLS.  So I say let them figure it out!

Well I guess I've already messed up because I already told 4 of my co-workers, one of them I'm not close with she was just in earshot when I was talking.  I've already been hit with the silly questions and I already regret mentioning it to anyone.  My job is however having a "Biggest Loser" event, I may just get started with that now and ride the coat tail of that program, crediting it for my success and stop talking about the surgery all together.
