Well let the newbie slide on in....

1. I am a single mother of 2 (17 &14)

2. I have been working on my Bachelor's since 2003.  Motivation is what I needed.  This WLS surgery has been motivation for me to make alot of changes in 2009.

3. Seriously considering relocating to another state, I was born and raised in Baltimore and I think a change of atmosphere would be good.

Hello Shani!

1.  I'm current in nursing school to obtain my license in Rn, hope to be finished by this fall.

2.  Would like to open up a clinic for Deaf people who cannot afford health insurance and hire sign language interpreters. Also located deaf people who are certified doctors, nurses, case managers, etc.
(Deaf people get it hard when it comes to health care,  some hearing professionals (although they don't act professionals) act like being deaf is some type of disease & we cant do for ourselves)

3.  Got married on August 8, 2008 to my sweetie (although sometimes he acts like a fool) but still in love

I saw you write something before about being hearing challenged. Are you challenged or deaf. I wish I had kept up on my sign language. I took it in jr high, but have forgotten everything now

Hey,

Sorry for the delay.... been studying.  Can you explain to me or make clear what you mean by challenged?  I'm gonna bite & guess what you mean...

1.  I became hearing impaired at age 9 in left ear; by age 12 lost in right ear

2.  I wear one hearing aid on my left ear because I have some hearing left, in my right it's all gone.

3.  I read lips very well, speak very well (although some folks seem to think I'm from the islands or from NY because of my accent )

4.  I use what is called a VP (video phone) to communicate with deaf people (actually see the person on the tv; like a web cam)  www.sorenson.com

5.  I went to mainstream school all my life, the only deaf person in my high school with 2 interpreters

6.  I speak with my mouth with family & hearing friends but with deaf friends I use sign language

7.  Many ask me if I could choose, would I want to be hearing again? And my answer is no, I love being deaf, I am proud of who I am.

8.  And finally, when I can't stand alot of noise & I just want some peace & quiet... all I have to do is turn off my hearing aid and Viola!!!

I think that's wonderful that you don't let it stop you or slow you down in anyway.  And at the risk of saying something that will put my foot square in my mouth, I'll just shut up and say   You are an inspiration to me.  God bless.
