Hey yall. I just had a few questions to ask to see if i am on track. Well it seems like the scale just aint moving enough for me & i thought i was doing alright with the band rules. I have only had 2 fills & i have some restrictions but scale just aint saying nothing! I know i am losing inches cause i feel it in my clothes.  I have lost about 27lbs so far; surgery 8/5/08. But it seems like i should be losing more. I mean i exercise 5 days a week burning anywhere between 500-700 calories on those days and i eat between 1200 to 1400 calories a day. I drink my water or crystal light & i get enough protein. I just don't see what it could be. Can someone please give me some pointers on how i can get that darn scale to move again or just let me know something i am doing wrong.   thanks yall

Everyone loses at a different speed and with the band it is a little slower until you hit that "sweet spot". You are just shy of the average loss with tha band and that does not even take into account that you may need additional fills. Do you know how much your band holds and how much they are putting in each time? Some doctors start with very small increments.

Yea you right. I don't know how much my band holds but i do know i have one of the newer bands that is not in size. so i guess it will hold whatever. when i went for my 2nd fill, he said i was suppose to have gotten 5cc the first time but he pulled out 3cc. (my original surgeon did my first fill, now shes out for 3 months & have another surgeon filling in for her) So he put the 5cc back in.  So i guess i will keep on until i hit my sweet spot. Thanks for your reply

I am not a bander, but your numbers stuck out to me immediately. If you are eating 1200-1400 cals a day and burning off 500-700 working out, it's highly likely you aren't getting enough net calories. Your body could very well be in 'starvation mode'...just food for thought.

So you're saying i need to eat more? I don't think i could do that. Or should i just not burn so many calories? This is so confusing. I'm going to make an appointment with my nut & see what she says. Thanks for your reply    Your little girl is addorable!

If you are TRULY burning off that much, and you are unable to eat more, I would tone down the exercise. But LaVerne brings up good points as well...exercise machines are NOTORIOUS for being 'off' with regard to calories burned.

Greetings. Just want to point out a few things that you might want to think about.

1.  When you say that you burn 500-700 calories, where are you getting those numbers, if from the machine that you are using, I read an article that said those things are way off. I think you should concentrate more on how long you work out and what type of exercise.  Are you getting in cardio as well as strenght training?

2.  What are  your 1200-1400 calories consist of? Are you doing the protein first, veggie and then starch only if you have room for it?

3.  Water....how much are you drinking?

4.  What is "enough protein"

5.  you say you have 2 fills, how is your eating?  Meaning, is your fill holding you 4 to 5 hours before you are getting hungry again, or are you feeling hunger 2 to 3 hours.

These are some questions that you need to ask  yourself and be honest with yourself.  Lot of time we believe we are doing right until we write down what we are doing only to find out that we are not doing what we thought we were.

Good luck.
