Im sorry to hear of this Amanda.....losing a job in this economy is definately hard.

Thankfully, your current skills and work experience can still hold its own and your ambitions of becoming a nurse make your  future unstoppable.

Praying that however the outcome...God is working it out for your good...
Please keep your spirits up and faith grounded.

You will get through this time and come out great. Remember that you have unemployment benefits for over 6 months and I believe that those benefits have been extended by congress. You may want to call and see when is the earliest you can put in for those benefits so you won't have a lapse in between a benefit check and your last paycheck. It is also a good time to look for grants and scholarships in Nursing. Nursing is HOT (shortages) and there should be free money out there for your education. You will be pretty busy...

You also may want to check out other cities relative to job opportunities. Atlanta is GREAT for professionals like yourself and well as The Research Triangle in N.C...The degree you have and your experience is also a HOT commodity! I'll just be frank, by you losing weight and really looking the "Complete Package" more people are going to want you than ever before. You may not realize it now but your qualifications are unique (just the little you wrote here) and make no mistake about it when you go for jobs and especially more high profile positions the "total package" puts you in a position to ask your price. You have a whole lot going for you at this time in your Life! Have you read TD Jakes book...Reposition Yourself?

Thanks for your comments. I haven't read that book but I will check it out, I love to read and it looks like I will have some free time. I am actually considering relocating but now is not a good time. We would have to sell our building to have the $ needed and the market sucks right now. I will definitely be checking on the unemployment, I think I will have to wait until my severance ends though.

Hey, ideally something close to home would be great but I am not too picky right now. I will travel up to 35-40 miles, that is about what I was doing at the current job.
