I am totally devastated
Today I was told that my position is being eliminated effective 2/4/09. I don't know what to do. I want to believe that God has something better for me but I am just not in a really good place right now.
If anyone in the chicagoland area knows of any job opportunities please let me know. I have a B.S. in Computer Info Sys. 2 1/2 years as a Setup Config Analyst, 5 years Customer Service exp and about 5 years of admin/clerical experience.
ETA:
I am trying to look at the cup as half full. I had already decided that Info Technology is not for me and last summer started taking pre reqs for nursing school. I just sent off my application and fee yesterday to the nursing school of my choice and was planning to leave my job in the summer to go full time. Sure this timing sucks but overall it is probably for the best. That being said, I am open to ANY type of job, IT or otherwise with ANY hours. I did just put in an application for another IT job 2 weeks ago at my last employer. Hoping that pans out as it would involve a raise and shorter commute.

I have been where you have been, and i understand it's scary. But, i am a sure nuff witness that God will get you through this. Be encouraged Amanda.

Breathe!!!
Girl...remember the doors...remember the doors...when one closes...GOD OPENS ANOTHER - WITH GREATER POSSIBILITIES!
But dang, Amanda...that's less than 2 weeks away...and a bummer for real...(I thank God you had your revision prior to this announcement!)
I'll keep my ear to the stone and let you know if I hear of anything...in the meantime, keep your head up!

I choose to love myself, live life to the fullest, and encourage others to liberate themselves!
I am trying to breathe, I truly believe what you typed is true. I just got the news this morning, then they told me to take the rest of the day off to cope with the news. I am so glad that I had my revision covered already, in the back of my mind though I am wondering if they are letting me go due to all the time I have been off. I know there are others with my same title who were not laid off. Anyway, thanks!
I'm so sorry Amanda. The first thing I thought was I'm sooooo glad you had your revision!
My best to you on finding another job. Try using a headhunter or an agency specializing in placing professionals in IT.
