You cant be the first.  I don't think they do a catheter. I think they just give you those pads for the bed and when you can get up slap one of those maternity pads between your legs.  Pray its light, pray it don't last the full cycle.

The nurses and doctors aren't phased by it.  I am sure they will offer you a solution.  My prayers are with you for tomorrow.

Its not a big deal to them.  They work right through it and it happens alot.  Dont worry about it.
Just focus on a speedy recovery( hopefully as painless as possible) and an uneventful surgery.  Congratulations and I wish you the best on your journey tomorrow.

Same thing happened to me.  I  had the Surgeon and his staff laughing hysterically when I called to see if it mattered.  He said that himself and the group that will insert your catheter have seen worse.  It doesn't matter, they will put padding under you and provide supplies when they remove your catheter.  Sometimes WLS surgery and other surgeries are enough to make Aunt Flo pop in for a visit as the body may go through a type of "shock" as a result of even having surgery. Just let the nurse know at check in.

Same thing happened to me.  I was embarrased as well and the hospital staff told me it was no big deal.  I will say the best advice I was given was from during the pre-admission class.  I was advised to bring TONGS.  When she said it I was like HUH?  But the nurse said that after surgery lots of women get their period because your hormones are all over the place.  The Tongs helped me to be able to clean myself PAIN free because I had Open RNY.  The nursing staff was really helpful as well.  One nurse even bathed me, I was like urraaa My aunt Flo is here, she was like Chile, I don seen worse.  LET ME DO MY JOB LOL.

GOod luck on your surgery, you'll be fine!
I was once a mess!!  My mess is now my message!! WLS saves lives!!  I'm living proof!
