I went to the Inauguration and so glad that I did!!!!

I was there too. I couldn't make up my mind until my great nephew's mother called and said that her son wanted to go to the inauguration. Mind you he turned nine today. I could deny a young black male a chance to see what he too can accomplish in life, if he continues his education and has resilience.
His birthday was the next day (Jan 21st) and he was willing to give up all of his gifts and his Wii if he could be there. That was the tipping point for me. I told her to get him to Fredericksburg and he will get there. They drove from Smithfield .
What you stated were my feelings also, about being this close and not being there.
I drove in late Monday night to my sister's home and we left at 4 and arrived about 5'ish at the Mall. Getting there was no problem but getting out was a mess. The first metro station line was as long as hell so we walked to Dupoint Circle and there wasn't any wait time. It was cold as hell out there but my heart was glad and I wouldn't trade that day for anything.
