Is your swag tight? Long post read at Lunch

Have you ever heard these words used by our younger generation?

"My swag is tight! "or "you jocking my fresh! " "I like his swag."  I have been paying attention to the Urban dictionary so I could decipher some of the language and phrases I hear.  I have over the years pick up a lot of slang and I like it.  We even use some of this new fangled stuff on the net when we IM or on the phone by text msg.  Things like LOL, my BFF, SHM, JMHO. 

There is a new language in the air and if you don't keep up you can be left behind.  Sometimes we tend to criticize change, but lets face it, it is inevitable. It will happen and you may as well stop kicking and screaming and just accept it.

Don't get me wrong. I am not saying accept change that is negative or immoral, but hey there is something really cool about it once you understand it.

I remember language changes for my young days.  Words like groovy, cool, bad, hipped, was the "in thing" when I was young and my parents hated it. With every era there is a new language.  I decided how could I use this language to communicate some concepts to the younger generation.

I found out that I could communicate some things about Jesus to make young people understand the times in which Jesus lived and the things he went through so that we can enjoy the lives we live.  One thing that I used to explain the events that surrounded his arrest when they sought to kill him.  I explained the events that involved Judas, selling him out for 30 pieces of silver.  I explained how Judas had to identify him, they did not know Jesus from the others, why because they were on one accord. They dressed in similar fashion, they had all things in common. 

My explanation was that "his swag was tight "and they were "jocking his fresh."  The swag represents how you carry yourself, your confidence, your demeanor, that thing that makes you stand out from the crowd.  (see the crowd new Jesus because of his swag.) But those in authority were blind, uninvolved therefore they had no idea who he was because he was (beneath) them. 

My explanation as to why they needed to identify him was because all the other disciples was "jocking his fresh".  They looked like him. They were imitators of him so he had to be identified to get the right person.

My point is we are to be imitators of Christ. I ask you today,  Are you Jocking His Fresh today?  Do you look like him?  If you were arrested today would it be mistaken identity?  Do you look like the Christ? Is your SwaG Tight?  Do you carry yourself like Jesus, exuding confidence, does the spirit of God radiate from you that everybody around you wants to Jock your Fresh?  When you put on Your gear, do you imitate Jesus?  If not, it is high time you get in the game.  It is time for you to get your Swag tight, so others can Jock your Fresh and find their way to Christ.
