now im not they type that gets all involved in politics but there was a few things that were getting on  my nerves yesterday but i never had time to post...

first off they kept saying "This is a wonderful day for african americans"..i mean yes granted most black people was excited and it was a wonderful day...but if a majority of the country voted for Obama wouldnt it be a great day for ALL of America???

then after everything...they wanted to pick apart everything that went wrong...First they say he messed up the oath...i mean ok maybe her did?? but if he did so what didnt Bush mess up every word that came out his mouth??

then on ABC they made a comment about how Obama mentioned in his speech he was the 44th man to take the oath and that was wrong because he was actually only the 43rd man because Groover Ceveland took the oath twice.... then afterward the guys says well i guess that wasnt really important so maybe i shouldnt have said it!!  Well then why did HE!!!!
I was like this world is crazy!! ok sorry Just my own 2 cents

You've answered your own question simply by pointing out the negative. In the grand scheme of things...the man is in office.  Why belittle that by pointing out petty drama? Overall the day was great...that's all anybody needs to know.

Why shouldn't the news highlight the African American aspect of the day when that is what African Americans themselves have been doing...hell it's been all over tv in the papers...even posted here on BAF.  I personally will be far more impressed when there is a black man in office and folks are for him or against him due to his policies and qualifications and feel no need to even mention race but this nation has far to go before that becomes a reality.

You know what? They are right, he did messed up on the oath and I for one was thinking, wow, at such an emotional point in his life, he showed that he was human not some freaking robot who more likely have practice that oath so many times that it really nmeant nothing other than just words.

At time point, I say their negative things about him will have to be entertain by others, because I refuse to entertain them.

I actually thought the other guy was the one who messed up.  It sounded like President Obama was trying to correct him.

I really think we should choose our battles carefully and since the media is not perfect, these things they did are minor...especially compared to what we will surely be facing in the future.

Everything  President Obama does from now on will be placed under a microscope and picked apart, so get ready.

You're right - the justice actually messed up the wording and Obama paused to let him correct it.
Be careful, or you may find yourself in my novel...

lol, you are right...I was being funny, he messed up the oath that the guy said to him by saying what the oath really should have read kinda like if someone mistype something on here...do I answer them with the mistype as to not point out their mistake or do i type it right, because I know it was not right?

Kim...I'm with you...it wasn't President Obama's mess up...it was the judge swearing him in and Barack was correcting him.

I would suggest that we all keep the negative out of the most important day in American history! Of course the media was going to slice, dice, reconnect the dots, reinvent the wheel, when it came to PRESIDENT OBAMA'S INAUGURAL DAY - they were LOOKING for schit to go wrong!

And it was the JUSTICE who flubbed HIS part in the swearing in...not the President!  And, I have a newsflash.

YESTERDAY WAS A WONDERFUL DAY FOR AFRICAN AMERICANS!!! It pains me to see that most of these comments from folk that they were tired of hearing this...come from those who were not even born during the civil rights movement; and perhaps were not taught about what our mothers, fathers, grandparents and others had to endure - SO THAT WE WOULD SEE THE DAY THAT AN AFRICAN AMERICAN became president of these yet-to-be United States!

C'mon people...it's time that we understand where we are in the history of this country!

OVERALL...IT WAS A GREAT DAY FOR THE ENTIRE WORLD!!! Everyone from all walks of life CELEBRATED OUR NEW PRESIDENT - from the day of the election where he won, by a LANDSLIDE...to yesterday!!!  Now, the work begins...we must continue to pray for him, his Cabinet and our country...we have not reached the mountain top YET!  Let's all work on getting this government and our country to where they should be - TOGETHER WE CAN DO THIS THING!!!

Blessings to you all!

ITA...  It WAS a great day, especially for African Americans...  For my grandfather, who was damn near lynched as a teenager before he moved north...  He would have never imagined in his wildest dreams that a BLACK man would be taking the oath of office to become PRESIDENT of the United States.  I wish he was alive to see it.

But then I look at my son, and he really doesn't see color.  He sees a nice looking, young president with two cute daughters (man, if he could marry one lol).  A president who likes to play basketball like him and likes hip-hop like him, and, oh yeah, he happens to be the same shade of brown that he is.  And I think that's wonderful too, that my son can grow up in a world where color doesn't have to matter.  I teach him about our history, but at the same time, our future is going to be more important than our past.
