How did u get here?

I googled it like I do anything I am trying to find and have been here since Jan 2002!!!!

Blessed day to you, too. This is an even more special day because it seems to me that I am watching our (African American) past and present MERGE...that is why it seems so sur-real to me...so on to your question.


I got here in a similar fashion to you, except when I came to Obesityhelp.com in my google search, I went to the Main Room and Lap Band. The Band was my first thought in getting WLS (basically because of the cute little Realize Band commercials). As I researched more, I learned of the other procedures...how they react on the Body, what they do. Then I began to formulate my short and long term goals (what I needed from WLS, not just having a surgeon cutting on me because they did a particular procedure. I wanted to speak with the Surgeon intelligently and be able to articulate to him/her my real needs and we could work as a team in deciding the direction I would take.)


I decided on the RNY AFTER formulating my needs and wants. Then I began going into the RNY Forum. At that time I did not see the BAF Forum or some others on the drop box, I don't think that they were listed, you would have to search for them. About 2 and a half wees ago I looked on the drop down box and saw BAF as well as others and decided to visit. I visit many Forums on OH and MANY Forums and Chatrooms off of OH. I find BAF more of a social site (which is cool) but a little cliquish. I lurk most of the time, I post more on the RNY Board because I get more information from there...it seems to be more informational about WLS Experiences, products... and people don't mind repeating an answer over and over to help Newbies. I have found that every Forum (no matter where located) has it's own character and each person has to go where they fit best.

I like you,  had my heart sold on band but once i came here i learned so much about RNY i had a change of heart. I wanted to sound like i knew what i was talking about too when i went to see my doctor,,,


but i have to say, I have learned sooooo much on BAF as far as information, it is a social site this is true but that's because it's like one big family on here, the BAF vets are so knowledgeable, I dont know what i'd do if i clicked on BAF and it was no longer around... I think if you come out of lurk and ask questions anyone on this forum will be willing to answer questions...

A google search for OH and then I was searching OH one day and stumbled upon BAF a few months later.

My doctor gave us a list of websites about WLS and I happen to to find OH.  At the same time I was also looking for love and someone told me about BAF.  So I been here since 2004, I think but only been on BAF since Feb of last year.....

I didn't find love on BAF but I did find it! LOL

It has only just begun.....declare that 2009 is your year & that you will recieve everything that that God has for you.   Not saying it's gonna be easy... I'm not a person with a lot of patience.  God is still working with me on that.

i was considering the surgery so i started the process. my surgeon's office told me about the place.

i got to the point of getting a surgery date when it was discovered that i had another medical condition that i had to deal with.

now that i got that under control, i'm starting the process over again so I'm back here to read about what i'll be goin through
